Miscellaneous Forums/General Discussion/portable posers post I posting on a wireless laptop sitting on the sofa. My friend was walking home from my house the other day and he stopped in the street and skyped me at 1am on his pocket PC. This was cos he found an unprotected wireless zone. We only live in a rural area so it's quite cool. He can post on the internet from there too.
coolio - Im glad you posted - anyone else with a portable post capability? Mobiles? Pocket pcs? Clie's, PSP, wireless anything will do...

I normally always post on my psp. I found this site while browsing on my psp.
Still mainly using PC for net here, will keep PSP at my side with a specific site loaded if I ever need a guide or reference material when playing on PC.
Cant stand posting on forum via PSP, the thing takes forever to load a page, and even then it runs slow........still waiting for keyboard support in the browser.

Yes PSP now comes with a version of net.front - with java script but no support for Flash lite yet... sigh. If only...
It is fiddly and slow - but the wi-fi option allows my kids to be on the Internet and me too.

I use my laptop, that's as close as I'll go to using the net on a portable device. I've got plenty of better things to do when I'm out than mess around on a phone or handheld. Like make sure I don't get run over by a truck, for instance.

Gota love Noel. I agree. I used to listen to my Mp3 player all the time, I kept nearly becoming roadkill though...
When the weather is nice, I sometimes take my PowerBook to the park. There are a number of places where I can sit on a bench and pick up a wireless signal.
I have to admit that the PSP is crap for typing into...but I am really identifying the number of people who are using wireless connections to do Internet browsing or e-mails etc.
I remember 11 years back when most were only just becoming aware of the Internet and www (well in the UK anyways) , thats kinda where we are with wi-fi. Predictably it will become absolutely paramount to have wi-fi connection quite soon (within a couple of years I believe). Wireless connectivity is the future, although I hope it is not via tiddly little mobile phones and PSP type devices - I like a keyboard or maybe speech will become more effective in the near future too?
Sad git that I may be I recently watched "Most Haunted Live" via the laptop upstairs, whilst the kids were making far too much noise downstairs, using both my other computers for Internet browsing and games playing, MSN etc.
Sony are already touting their new device Location Free Player for the PSP, you connect up a base station to your TV or DVD player and the Internet, and as long as your PSP is near a Wi-Fi hot spot you can control the telly, the dvd and watch your own programme schedule wherever you are in the world. Now that's pretty clever to achieve - although it doesnt take much to see that the technology already exists. Apparently you can even switch channels!
I guess Wi-Fi will make a rapid explosive inroad into our lives pretty soon then!
lol - I was in a large shopping store the other day and three lads had a couple of PSPs - they were trying to get on the store's wi-fi - apparently they succeeded (don't try this at home people - I think it is against the law!)
Where I live there are now three wi-fi channels (including mine) which my Belkin Router software recognises - it's already in my neighbourhood.

lol - no it was deliberately there because I knew people would rightly accuse me of 'posing' and then maybe slag me off - but if I was taking the urine then they may indulge me and reply.
But the whole portable capability is what my post is underpinned by - how many users currently really understand what they could achieve if their office was actually virtual? They could be out in the field seeing potential customers and doing work in between.
My mate has a saying "Work smarter not harder" - It's one I have found difficult to achieve if I am honest, but computers are supposed to make our lives easier not harder. Perhaps wireless capability is a strong forward push in this positive direction - I believe so.
