... is all i can say, so far that is after running the demo.
http://www.beyondvirtual.com/sitenew/i was expecting more... anyone familiar with this new game engine/dev tool from the folks that brought us that thing... uhhhh, what was it's name... i forget...

yeah, not all that is it? I don't get it. <shrug>
wow! yeah it's terrible. I don't play old games, but it feels like a late 90's game to me, and not a good one either.
You would think they could make a good demo judging by the screenshots on the site. the one I played is terrible.
Core BV Indie Package $150, Support Package $99 / Year... clever? Maybe not.
Core gets you only 3 months "access for Bug-Fixes for the Engine" after that you must pay or use bugged soft (worth of $150) forever... and just guess how long it will take from initial release to get it bug-free. [answer being of course: never]
Maybe I'll have to DL the demo too and check it out before commenting it more.
I do agree the demo was less than impressive. But these guys are programmers. Maybe in the right hands...
I think there's potential here, still. I have to admit the integration with Lightwave is a big plus. But as Mustang pointed out the yearly $99 fee to get access to bug fixes... I'm not sure I like that at all. We'll see...
Yeah...that was pretty....gay.....
I didn't like it. The demo had nothign that couldnt' be done in blitz in it (at least on not on display).
fare enough these guys are programmers, but where whern't even technology demos. The mos 'advanced' thing in there seemed to be the phyiscis stuff, and that wasn't anything remarkable, plus was quite crap for the car.
Very disappointing. Terrain doesn't even have splatting, everything is extremely low res', and the physics?
Well...
Ran it, selected buggy, waggled and prodded everything on the controller, no response, assumed it was buggy. Pressed escape, unistalled it. Never saw it move at all. Wasn't much fun standing there as the graphics were hardly up for even light scrutiny.
Now assuming nothing good can be made with it. (otherwise.... surely?)
And they mentioned somewhere or other this took them a month! Maybe they meant including developing the engine too? <shrug>
I am now downloading it to see how horrible it is.
Hey, that wasn't really that bad! I think it was quite a bit better than a lot of other demos. Yeah, Blitz might be able to do more than that with a lot of add on libs etc... and BV was a little buggy (seemed like some strange slippage/reverse on the wheels) but the physics weren't bad when they were working right and the barrels were nice and stackable ... something I've been wanting in Torque. I did the FPS demo which also in included the buggy ... if it were networked that'd be a lot better but as it stands it seemed to be decent. I wouldn't buy it but I've played more horrid engine demos.
Programmers aren't good designers and artists.. normally.. so this demo kinda proves that point doesn't it?
A veritable train wreck, bordering egregious.
