I'd actually forgotten about 'Duke Nukem Forever' until reading this - once one of the most hyped games in recent years.
I wonder if anyone cares anymore if they release it or not.
1) Will Duke Nukem Forver finally be released?
No.
2) How many games with 2006/2007 in the title will be released?
None worth playing.
3) Will the Nintendo Revolution be a revolution.
Yes.
4) In fact at then end of the year, which console will have sold the most, even with XBOX 360 having a head start?
The XBox 360.
5) How powerful will the best graphics card be in Dec 2006 and what other PC enhancements will we be able to buy for a decent (i.e. not ridiculous) price?
No other enhancements, graphics cards will be nearly twice as powerful, but you'll only have half the games.
6) Is VoIP going to take off big time and what about Video Phones, the technology is there already.
No.
7) How cheap will HD Plasmas be by next Christmas or will we all be lusting after a new TV technology?
About the same, and there won't be any new TV technology until HDTV is firmly established.
8) How big will the downloadable games market be and will the "big boys" have pushed most of the indies out?
It will shrink. The indies will be pushed out, not by the "big boys", but by their lobbists and legislation.
9) Will Blitx Max's 3D module be out!
Yes.
10) Who of us will have made and sold games?
The usual suspects.
11) Who will give up their day job to go full-time indie games developer?
Hard to tell. Depends on how quick they can make it illegal.
12) Who'll be using Vista and will they like it?
Nobody will be using it, except those forced to, and they won't like it, because they where forced to.
13) How fast will most people's broadband be and can the Internet cope with the fat bandwidth abuse?
Most people still won't have broadband, and the problem isn't bandwidth abuse, so much as available IP addresses, until ISP's get their collective acts together an force everyone to use IPv6.
14) What crappy anti-piracy measures will the big record/movie companies pull out the bag?
Seen the movie Wedlock? Getting your head blown off will seem perfectly reasonable by comparison.
15) How much will piracy of TV programmes increase this year?
It will decline along with the quality of said TV programmes.
lol, some sound sensible, but not all ...
1) Will Duke Nukem Forver finally be released?
Duke who?

All the EA Sports ones.
3) Will the Nintendo Revolution be a revolution.
Kind of, i want one.
4) In fact at then end of the year, which console will have sold the most, even with XBOX 360 having a head start?
PS3 but only if we can make games for it in BlitzMax.
5) How powerful will the best graphics card be in Dec 2006 and what other PC enhancements will we be able to buy for a decent (i.e. not ridiculous) price?
About 110% above the 7800 in terms of FPS on modern games.
6) Is VoIP going to take off big time and what about Video Phones, the technology is there already.
Its going to take off slowly because nobody is advertising it and nobody is earning money off it.
7) How cheap will HD Plasmas be by next Christmas or will we all be lusting after a new TV technology?
I dont watch tv, i dont even know what the new ones look like.
8) How big will the downloadable games market be and will the "big boys" have pushed most of the indies out?
No, we'll have 3 big companies and the same number of indies who will not improve on today.
9) Will Blitx Max's 3D module be out!
Why, yes.
10) Who of us will have made and sold games?
That guy, this guy, and that guy in the back row. No the one to the right side. That one. Oh he left. Ok then only two of them.
11) Who will give up their day job to go full-time indie games developer?
You need encouragement?
12) Who'll be using Vista and will they like it?
I hope it improves on XP, there's nothing we can do about the MS monopoly anyway.
13) How fast will most people's broadband be and can the Internet cope with the fat bandwidth abuse?
Sure it can cope. Broadband wont go up too much.
14) What crappy anti-piracy measures will the big record/movie companies pull out the bag?
Fingerprints. You have to leave FRESH fingerprints on your dvd before you insert it in. It will recognize if they're yours, and if it was real skin with blood inside and wont run it otherwise.
15) How much will piracy of TV programmes increase this year?
How do you pirate TV programmes?
Too lazy right now to answer them all, so I'll answer one...
1) Will Duke Nukem Forver finally be released?
Yes.
1) Will Duke Nukem Forver finally be released?
Does anyone actually care anymore?
2) How many games with 2006/2007 in the title will be released?
The usual EA Games, fifa, tiger woods, nhl etc plus a few others, approx 12 titles I'd guess at.
3) Will the Nintendo Revolution be a revolution.
Yes, a complete new way to play games for a change.
4) In fact at then end of the year, which console will have sold the most, even with XBOX 360 having a head start?
XBOX 360 will of sold the most world wide by the end of 2006, although I'm looking forward to PS3 personally.
5) How powerful will the best graphics card be in Dec 2006 and what other PC enhancements will we be able to buy for a decent (i.e. not ridiculous) price?
Nothing special, just the extra speed at higher resolutions. The current crop will be half the price at the end of the year.
6) Is VoIP going to take off big time and what about Video Phones, the technology is there already.
Nah, who wants to have their PC turned on just to make a phone call? - A seperate cheap box to plug into your router which plugs into your current phone and connects to voip would help so it's not reliant on your PC being switched on.
7) How cheap will HD Plasmas be by next Christmas or will we all be lusting after a new TV technology?
Cheaper, but not fantastically cheap. I can't see any radical new TV technology coming out for a few years yet though.
8) How big will the downloadable games market be and will the "big boys" have pushed most of the indies out?
It'll continue to grow. People like the "get it now" of products.
9) Will Blitx Max's 3D module be out!
Yes, I'm sure it will.
10) Who of us will have made and sold games?
I won't sell any game, but I'll continue to sell apps I write. All being well 2006 will be a good year for me.
11) Who will give up their day job to go full-time indie games developer?
All ready an indie app developer. Mainly contract work, but 2006 is the year I sell apps online.
12) Who'll be using Vista and will they like it?
I'll probably buy it and use it, mainly to make sure my apps works 100% in it.
13) How fast will most people's broadband be and can the Internet cope with the fat bandwidth abuse?
With a bit of luck BT will have upgraded my area to 8mb by then. As far as the "internet" coping, well that depends on the hosting companies and how many cache servers they have to deal with demand.
14) What crappy anti-piracy measures will the big record/movie companies pull out the bag?
I still pray that they'll realise that invasive piracy measures DONT WORK. I wish they'd just stick to "casual" piracy methods so genuine customers don't get stiffed on their buggy measures.
15) How much will piracy of TV programmes increase this year?
As broadband gets more and more common, it'll increase.
Ah some sensible answers from Qube there. Actually I have already have a wireless router with a phone plugged into it and I just pick it up and make free VoIP calls, neat. I know someone that has a rather large collection of TV from leaving his broadband harvesting 24/7. Also of course, some lucky people will get 8Mb broadband and apparently 24Mb is on the way soon (in some areas). btw I care about Duke Nukem Forever as I like Duke Nukem 3D! Plus I'll probably buy a Revolution, through my company to save Tax and VAT.
You didn't answer my questions, Grey.
I don't believe you can tell what I smell like with current technology. I actually "smell like a man", whereas you smell like a "boy", now go and eat some cheese ;-)
Currently I smell like deodorant.
1] will BRL ever support VISA ELECTRON?
2] will BRL start releasing regular news posts.
3] will BRL promote its products properly, and start selling
software developed by its community?
4] goto 1
1) Definitely.
2) Not gonna happen.
3) You can't expect logic from the illogical.
Actually, here's a question..
1) How the hell did I manage to get over 5,000 posts in 2 years?
1) Why do you smell like cheese?
Why does cheese smell like me is a more accurate question.
2) Is it supposed to smell like cheese?)
Better than smelling like fish.
3) Is the smell ever going away?
The smell might but the taste won't
I though Duke Nukem Forever was released about 3 years ago... funny thing time - eh Mike?!!!!***
IPete2.
Noel - of course the Revolution will be just that.
16) Who couldn't be bothered to read more than 2 lines of this thread before posting at the bottom
Me! :)
Youre all confused about Duke Nukem, Forever is the development period, not part of its name.
You read enough to know the next number. I guess you didn't specify *which* two lines.
IPete2: From a universal perspective, DN Forever either HAS been released forever or HAS NEVER been released, thing is from where we are sitting with our linear time perspective, we don't know which is true!
@ Grey lol
@ John lol too!
lol @ John, just noticed that haha.
