Any1 know this tracker program Milkytracker

Any1 know if there is a Blitz player?

FMod can play anything that Fast Tracker can throw out, so I guess it will be fine for this too.

downloaded it, I'll check it out as I used to love FT2 but it became incompatible with XP and Audigy 2. Also tried Madtracker but you have to register to export...

www.buzzmachines.org = free tracker
www.modplug.com = free tracker

I use ModPlugPLayer and it exports mod as wav lovely!

Hmm what about using xm fiels in game to safe signifigant HD space?

Using pure trackerformats means you're limited to the specs of the tracker.. using wav/mp3 means you can polish/mix/master it.. or even layer with more tracks or live recordings.. so many options.. only disadvantage is that mp3/ogg is bigger than a (small) tracker-format .. in a number of years ppl really don't care tho. whether you need to download 10MB or 100MB .. pff .. saves a few minutes @ decent downloadrate, and by then ppl have TB-harddisks, like anyone cares about 100MB then, instead of 10MB .. even today I don't mind that.. I rather have a bigger game with good tunes than a smaller game with some dated soundquality..

If you're trying to sell a game as shareware then you dont want it to be no more than 20mb (as what I've been told by shareware authors, personally I'm not sure) but yeah, you dont want a 100mb game if you want to sell to people with dial up (and there are still tons of dial up users)

Ever play Water bugs? Cosmo bots? etc? They're all using tracker music and they STILL sound very good.

Of course if you want the AAA music you need real instruments anyways, you need real musicians playing these instruments and a real recording studio. That is the only way ogg / wav will beat xm.

I know you can do a lot with ogg / wav (filters, equalizers, etc) and can add the polish, but it isnt worth the high download size because a lot of your gamers arent going to be music critics.

But there will be a time when dial-up becomes obsolete, and everything goes over DSL/Cable .. I bet it doesn't take too long anymore..

100MB was somewhat exagerated btw.. with a few MB of code and some MB for gfx.. it would mean about 80..90MB for music, which is ~80..90 minutes. I figure that 20..30MB for a small game is more than enough..

If the whole package is like 40MB orso .. less than 2:30 hours download time .. that's doable.. costs you only about 2$ orso..

CS_TBL there will be a time and it isnt now and it wont be for quite a while so until I see the days when dial up is no more I'm going to have a small downloadable game.

Here's some xm that crushes a ton of ogg / wav mastered stuff out there (not all ogg wav, but a lot of it)

I do use XM files in my games.
Matt: I've loved Maniacs of Noise since the C64, Jeroen Tel is one of my fav musicians, he rocks!
On the size issue, many indies try to get their games under 5Mb, and certainly if it's >10Mb it better be damn good. In XMas Bonus I had to squish all the music to small loops with lower quality ogg, but I got the quality good enough that it didn't sound pants. Ultimately Id've prefere longer music AND better quality but the portals aren't interested in a 50Mb download full stop (thats period to you Americans).

Hi,
anybody knows exactly HOW to play MODs/XMs in BMAX?

Thank you

There's FMOD ans BASS, if you just want to play modules, go MaxMod and uFMOD.

Google them for newest version.
