Who's on COD2?

Miscellaneous Forums/General Discussion/Who's on COD2?

Just wondering since I shot someone calling himself "Pukki" the other night. Just curious.
You might see me on the servers as either
"Calamity Jane" or "My Little Pony"...
Uh...I'm just not all that warlike.;)

I have the game but got too bored on the single player to bother trying online play.

"Pukki" is not me - probably a "puki" wannabe - this place is full of them.

I've yet to buy COD2 - so I think I will - I shall seek out this "Pukki" and lesson them.

Finished it single player nice game, in real life I'd be dead tho'. Not played on-line so any Grey Aliens must be real, just studying human behaviour.

COD2 is awesome ... it's actually the first WWII shooter I've played for any amount of time. I checked out the Medal of Honor games a while ago but they stink compared to COD2.

It was awesome indeed. I played MoH and the original CoD (which was great too!) and MoH Pacific Assult (good game!). I also have old MoH mission packs that I haven't played yet, but I'm thinking they'll probably seem rubbish now.

I play COD2, I am in a clan and we have a server at ip 87.117.208.16:28964 feel free to join it if you like. Look for TinSoldier and that will be me :)

Well Im a little behind the times - I just bought COD 1 and the expansion pack - singloe player and multiplayer are both very enjoyable.

I love driving tanks!

I know I don't play many games but what is COD2?

Call Of Duty 2.

Potatoe Masher!

I don't "do" what I deal!

I ... don't ... understand ... well maybe.

I checked out the Medal of Honor games a while ago but they stink compared to COD2.

Blasphemous! :)

Give them their dues, they're 4 years old now. But! MOH:AA is (I think) *still* like the 2nd or 3rd most popular multiplayer FPS game ever, CS being #1.

I played MP MOH:AA for about 3 years, my team won 2 international tournaments :P

Nothing else I've played has the feel of MOH in multiplayer, probably due to it using a tweaked Q3 engine. Very accurate feel, top network code.

COD:UO was good fun, tanks n all that stuff, and COD2 is much better than COD. COD2 level design was superb.

Long live MOH:AA, the grandaddy of WW2 FPS :)

yeah Jeremy!!!

MOH IS THE GREATEST WWII GAME OF ALL TIME!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

and it will always be...

now drop down and gimme 50... hooo waaa!!!

:)

MoH was wicked when it came out, but not so sure now. BUT Pacific Assault was great, not many games focus on the U.S. vs Japan side of the conflict. The Pearl Harbour beginning is great, and whole game is loony like when all the Japanese run out the trees at the bottom of the massive hill and you are manning the machine guns, but eventually they start to make it up to the top and you have to take them on, mental. Also the end was great, tear to eye type thing. Furthermore it was "educational" as I found out loads of stuff like what "the whole 9 yards" means and that when the soldiers charged Kamikaxe style, it was only done when they were low on ammo, outnumbered etc. It's quite cool that their captains draw swords up close and slash the sh*t out of you. AND often you are equiped with crappy riffles with small ammo capacity and horrid reloading times and you are feverishly reloading while the soldiers charge at you swords drawn etc, it's crazy, I'd certainly wouldn't have wanted to be there for real!

i actually liked the originals far better than Pacific Assault... it was too cartoonish... tooo cinematic for my taste...

...but the multiplayer was a lot better than in the original.

the original did have what a lot of people failed to see... an adaptive ai that played you 'smartly' and learned as the game progressed...

for example... if you like to rush the enemy, they'll be change their defeses to accomodate you when you next do it... the game learned and adapted depending on how you played against it...

... that was cool.

i like COD2 (demo) by the way the team aspect is implemented... unlike MOH, you feel more a part of a squad...

In CoD2 if you do a mission badly you end up with one guy left who shouts like he's shouting to a whole team, except it's only you ...

I haven't triedf COD 2 MP just SP and thought it was too linear. Maybe it's a lot better in MP though.

I enjoyed the original MOHA, but all since have been bleh! I think my favourite WW2 FPS games are still the Hidden & Dangerous series. It's a little more realistic and requires more skill. Hope they do another someday soon.

I actrually liked Operation Flashpoint best of all realistic shooters, But thats not WW2 either.

MOH AA and Spearhead are my personal favs. After 5 years the servers are still doing okay - 1500-3000 players on a normal session and as people tend to v'vote with their feet' I guess there's still a hardcore who think like I do.

I love COD 1 and UO though - the tanks are great - did I say that already? The flame throwers are 'doodie' as my daughter would say. (That means really really good btw).

IPete2.

Got Spearhead sitting in a pile to play SU, is it any good SU? Also have the other one Breakdthough. I know reviews weren't mega hot but I got them for £5 andthought what the heck?

Grey - you need Allied Assault to play both - I hope you have it! Doh!

Spearhead and Breakthrough are expansion packs - plus to do multiplayer I advise to upgrade using the patch 2.15 from EA Games website.

My Breakthrough CD somehow won't load now so Im down to the first 2 - but they are realy good in multiplayer mode online - thats where this game shines.

I would like to point out that the only Medal of Honor game I played was for the Playstation 2 as well ... I think it was Allied Assault (it had the famous beach scene that everyone was going crazy about). All I know is that it didn't seem that fun to me. I guess I wasn't really in a video game mood the day I played it either so it's a bit unfair. The PC version was probably better too ... I just know that COD2 on the PC really grabbed me by the throat. I suppose it is a bit linear as Adrian pointed out but it's got just enough freedom for me. Quake 4 ... now that's too linear. COD2 is very nice and very intense.

It would have been MOH:Frontline on console and it was not in the same league as the PC's Allied Assault, it felt slow and very unfriendly control wise but most console shooters do next to PC ones.

Anyone played the xbox/ps2 COD2 game Big red one ? If so what did you think of it :)

IPete2: you give me no credit, I played MoH couple of years back and OWN it.

Tip: Never play these sorta games on a console, they stink. Most reviews around 60-70%, just forget it.

@Jeremy, Omaha Beach on PC is exponentially better when more online players are involved.

Thats where this games strngth really shows - online with people from all over the world.

@Grey Glad to hear it - I never doubted it at all (ahem!). Let me know when you fancy a game and me and my son will join you. You'll see us immediately as our handles give us away!

Ipete2: Haven't ever played it online, guess I should?

oooooo - what a treat you have in store for you. Yes try it - after you have the patch 2.15.

Its a different game - a completely different game. Much fun waiting to be had.

OK soon, maybe Thurs. Gotta get some practice in first!
