Merry Christmas to all:
Miscellaneous Forums/General Discussion/Merry Christmas to all:
Hiya people,
Just a quick seasonal message for you all:
http://www.smartscreenuk.com/christmas2005/Have a great time - here's hoping that 2006 will be a successful year for us all!
Best regards,
IPete2.
I'll quickly wish you a Merry Christmas and all other blitzers before this thread get deleted by the scrooges.
What's with the draconian moderation on this forum? They're deleting "Merry Christmas" threads now? That's pretty amusing, in a 'not funny' kind of way.
The 'community' aspect of this site is going to go to hell in a handcart if you can't even wish your fellow blitzers Merry Christmas! :/
P.S. Merry Christmas all.
Happy Christmas everyone... Hic.
Yeah this is about the 6th thread I've seen, soon to bite the dust. Maybe just one should be allowed. Anyway Cherry Mistmas Hic V2.
MERRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRYYYYYYYYYY CHRISTMASSSSSSS
I feel so left out.
It's not even the 24th yet!
I would hate to be a moderator here on Christmas Eve, at this rate.
Or maybe I'd enjoy it...
Maybe a single thread should be left open so that people don't waste anymore bandwidth and run the tiny risk of damaging the database for this forum.
So... is anyone else driven crazy by that Anti-Culturally Tolerant and Multi-Cultural Society that we've ended up with because of all those bloody lawyers?
I don't know what it's like in other places, but it's crazy in Canada... Companies and cities calling a tree the "Holiday tree," because they're afraid to follow any end-of-December tradition other than "Lawyers Kick Christmas's Arse Day." It's like they're afraid to admit that people have a cultural background! I'm not Christian, but I celebrate Christmas and it could be argued that it is a tribute to my ancestors or such... The same as I am not offended by someone who celebrates Hanukkah or the like, I do not think anyone else will be offended by me celebrating Christmas -- unless they are dumb and deserve to be offended; the same as I am not offended when someone is stronger than me because I'm sitting at a computer all day.
However, myself and many other people are very offended by people deciding that it's a bad idea to express oneself, since it is denying everything that many countries these days claim to stand for, and have been working toward for a long time.
...Oops... I've created a monster!!!
I don't see anything wrong with ONE seasonal thread personally.
Merry whatever-you-want-to-celebrate-this-time-of-year!
Good will to all men/women/animals/children/usb devices
Happy new Year and all that follow etc
Are we allowed to have a merry christmas on the Blitz forums?
Well this might be the only chance I get to post this here... Have known about it for a month and not been able to post it, so here goes:
http://video.google.com/videoplay?docid=5733222252764977447&q=christmas+lights
Also this year I'm giving my sister a photomosaic of her wedding. It costs $2.50 to print a 11x14 color photo at Kinko's but it costs $35 to print a 16x20! Guess which one I had to do in order to get a photomosaic which looked decent with only 100 photos, and a main image with fairly small people? I have to give her a magnifying glass with the gift to see the 600dpi people in the images which are each less than half an inch wide... maybe a quarter of an inch, I forget. :-) Anyway there's like 8000 squares in the image.
I'll post a image of it later if the thread sticks around, I have to go pick it up and do some last minute shopping.
I got everything out of the way, thankfully (I'm probably the only 16 year old who buys gifts for other people).
Just trying to relax now.
That's cause you're such a nice fella Noel! Oh, that and the fact that your name is Noel.
Anyways this thread has a definate computer link as my original post has a 3D on the web Seasonal Message to all.
IPete2.
So... is anyone else driven crazy by that Anti-Culturally Tolerant and Multi-Cultural Society that we've ended up with because of all those bloody lawyers?
no, but i don't live in Canada, so it's hard to say. here in britain its multi-cultural, but not multi-cultural-conscious, yet. This "holiday" thing is barf anyway.
anyway, happy holidays. hic.
OK, this is REAL BAD, I haven't bought the missus anything yet AND it's her birthday on new years eve. I've been working so much and the car is being serviced (New cam belt and Subaru took ages to get the parts etc) and I haven't been out the house, except for Aikido. I am in SOOOO much trouble, what am I gonna do guys, help me pleeeeaase! P.S. this is not a joke :-o
Grey, go to the nearest jewelry store and buy something expensive.
buy her a subscription to In Style magazine. or this...
http://www.emeraldseamarket.com/vespa.html
She might see that as a "You think I look bad!?" situation.
Get her a photomosaic. :-)
Go here:
http://www.andreaplanet.com/andreamosaic/And then take a bunch of your digital photos and find one with a large subject in an interesting pose. Then set the tiles across to between 60 and 90, and the tile width to 25 to test and then 100 for final, and set the amount to let it modify the images to 25%. Then let it do it's thing for about 2 minutes for the preview and 20 for the full res one. You could get away with 50 maybe for the full res.
Then print it. I went to Kinko's. Turns out the large format sign printer there sucks, and that was the $35 one. So I went for the laser instead, and that came out much sharper, and I was able to print it at 11x14, which was a pretty good size still.
Then get a nice frame for it. Try a crafts shop. Frames are cheap there. You have to have a frame cause it makes it 10x better. Get a frame with a matte around the border, so the frame itself is like 16x20. A black wood frame with white matte looks nice.
Total cost: $15, and it's much cooler and more personal than a DVD.
You may have to print the image two or three times to get it right though. If your monitor is calibrated right, then the image on the printer will be more red, so you will need to adjust the image to be more green and blue. Also, darks will be much darker, so you will need to push the brightness up by about 25 percent using the middle slider in the levels. This should make an image which looks crappy and too bright on your monitor but prints nice.
Lucky for me when I went to Kinko's there was a nice young girl there who let me go behind the counter and work in photoshop to fix the image up. I ended up adjusting the image in photoshop with a few layers to look like the crappy printout, and then I adjusted THAT to get it to look nice again with more layers, and then removed the printer layers to end up with the image I sent to the printer. Amazingly, it worked perfect on the first try even though their monitor was so bright I could hardly tell if I was even matching the printer colors well.
Other gift ideas:
A pet - puppy, kitten, bunny
A mini-cooper
A cruise
A cookbook by DK. They're the company that makes those white encyclopedia books with the really slick graphical design and large color pictures.
Tickets to a play.
Here's that picture of the mosaic I promised... The actual mosaic is 8760 x 10950, so you won't be able to see much of the detail in this "thumbnail". :-)
That photomosaic is a great suggestion sswift!!!
I think sswift is getting old; Telling us your life story there ;)
Good idea, though.
I'm 30, and 40 is the new 30, so I'm 20, and therefore not old. :-)
I feel so left out.
Happy Chanukah.
Happy Holidays!
Speaking of christmas... I saw A Charlie Brown Christmas for the first time in years the other day. Damn that thing is short and small in scope! I rememebred it being at least an hour long and much grander in scope than what we saw. I could have sworn they at least spent part of the time in Charlie brown's house making snowflakes or watching it snow outside or something. And I thought there was more to them looking at the metal christmas trees. But no, almost the entire thing takes place on the school stage.
It's funny how we remember things from our childhood so much better than they actually were.
lol Thanks Gabriel.
wow thanks for the ideas guys, I love the jim jams and the photo mosaic. Got do something or I am in DEEP!
What's a jim jam?
haha pajamas.
Not merry christmas to ALL, apparently:

"swift haha that kids gonna be @#!*ed!"
So are you! Haha! :-)
[edit]
On second thought, no you won't!
[/edit]
I gonna get a parental babysitter to keep the kids overnight and take Helen to an Inn where we can have a romantic meal and then stay over and have a LIE IN (these are the holy grail for parents) woooo, this should redeem me. Oh yeah it was our aniversary today and I uh forgot... big bad doh!
Wait a minute... You have, anniversary -> wife's birthday + christmas eve -> christmas, all in a row?
And I thought it was bad having my sister's birthday five days berfore xmas!
I'm 30, and 40 is the new 30, so I'm 20, and therefore not old. :-)
Only old people say things like that. =]
Seriously, I miss the days you would post random pictures sswifty. This thread is good. =]
Now, something for everybody. In truth, a lot of fans have probably seen this one already, but I thought I had seen everything on the site twice already but have only seen this one now because of www.hrwiki.org :
http://www.homestarrunner.com/xmas.swfMerry Christmas!
sswift, i'd just wait till that guy threw the xbox 360 in the dumpster so i could fish out the xbox 360 when he leaves.
happy xmas to everyone - even brl....an xmas demo of

A Merry Christmas, One and All!
Darkheart
That last image cracks me up!
He's thinking: "Much like the T-Rex, if I don't scream, he wont know I am here, and thus, wont eat me..... Hold it in bobby, hold it in!"
Merry Christmas to all!!! Hic!
The black and white one looks like a demon santa.
The 6th one down looks like Bob Geldof.
mmeeerrrryyyy ccchhhrrrriiissssttttmmmaaaassssss!!!!!
Merry Christmas to all.. :)
Toast king celebrates christmas on the moon!
http://www.weebls-stuff.com/toons/On+The+Moon+ep.5/
sswift: I'm amazed at how unauthentic some of those santas look (mjor ill fitting beards and grumpy expressions), they look like drunk winos on a bad day! Also you haven't quite got my Christmas spending hell right, there's more: Anniversary (23rd), Chistmas, Helen's Birthday (new years eve) + 2nd sons Birthday (new years day which means I can't get too drunk the day before as he'll be up at 7am!). Also 2nd son implies I have a 1st son and of course they both need presents buying too. Furthermore when you are self employed noone pays you holiday pay so if you ahve a week off at Christmas you are poorer for sure! Anyway, I'm sure it'll be fun ... I just stocked up the wine cupboard and bought a 1.5litre bottle of vodka and saw a man about a dog ;-)
it's almost that time...

http://video.google.com/videoplay?docid=-1880662106252548547&q=christmas+lights
Merry christmas e'rbody!
That XBox 360 thing is hilarious. Yet sad. sswift - thanks for the random pictures - nice to have a joke around here once in a while/lifetime.
Some of those Santas look pretty evil - no wonder the kids are scared. :)
Hmm, just switch one letter around and we find Santa's real identity: SATAN :P
Merry christmas, have a good one :)
Lee.
Oh its christmass? Who woulda thought.
Marry Christmass. Thats an order. (i know its an A not an E)
Merry Christmas to all!! Wish you the very best.
Wishing you all a very merry Christmas.
Christmas Day in Oz! Merry Christmas!
Expected top temperature today of 42°C (107.6°F).
I'm dreaming of a white-hot christmas...
LineOf7s, I'll turn up the central heating and pretend ... ooh look at that coral reef, oh no, it's just a pile of rubbish on my living room floor.
Happy Christmas everone.
I decorated my palm trees and I'm ready to go.
Here's my xmas tree!
I took the following picture in two exposures using a tripod, one with lights in the room off, and one with them on, and combined them in photoshop:
Well it's officially Christmas Day now, at least in the UK anyway.
Big it up for crappy Xmas TV, eating far too much food till you're sick, having to actually spent time with some family members that you only see at Christmas time, celebrating Jesus who clearly never existed and then be left with the over whelming disappointment that you're no longer a kid and Christmas just isn't fun anymore (unless you happen to have kids of your own)
Just thought I'd share that with you. At least those screaming kids on Father Christmas' knee pictures made me happy :)
It's 7pm here on Christmas Eve, and I haven't wrapped most of my gifts! Oh noes!
Merry Christmas all :)
I wrapped my gifts between 2100 and 2300....
Father Ted was on at 10 so i had to pause and wrap during the breaks.
Merry Christms all :)
It's official now in the UK
I don't celebrate Christmas - coz nobody likes me - sniffage. I never put any decorations up or buy any Christmas food - I bought some peanuts though and some oranges and apples - and some cheese and 4 tins of Fosters. Still, Shrek and Toy Story 2 are on BBC1 - Large.
Merry christmas to all my fellow blitzers! :-D
Merry Christmas to everyone - except Puki ! ;)
It's 7pm here on Christmas Eve, and I haven't wrapped most of my gifts!
Then stop futzing around with your camera and get to it! Cool pic, BTW.
Merry Christmas to
only Puki (greetings, like parentheses, need to remain balanced) ;). Maybe you can stack the Fosters, apples, and peanuts into a vaguely tree-like shape.
"Then stop futzing around with your camera and get to it!"
Hehe, it's now 11:30pm and I still haven't wrapped stuff, but I'll probably be up till 4am anyway since I was up till 6am yesterday. :-)
Have you slept since this thread began, Shawn? :D
Cool photograph, btw.
Hehe, yes I have slept, it started 2 days ago!
Happy Holi, Diwali, and Mahashivatratri in advance!
OK, it's over. Happy New Years to all!
Merry christmas and happy new year.
Happy hunika! and beers for Santa!
Have been away for a 'lil while camping, drinking, etc..;)
Merry XMas / Happy New Year
