Aliencodec go bye bye

All Aliencodec products are now owned by The Game Creators Limited.
We will update this site in January 2006 to restore the AC forums and shopping system.

TGC has good CS, so this is good news for those who bought the AC products

Good riddance.

Hmm... can someone remind me what Aliencodec did? I seem to think they did the "Tree" range of programs.

Tree and Plant programs, about 6 or 7 over the years.
Plus a autoupdater system that didnt work.

Noel can move in on the market and create 'shroom generation programs now.

One one step for commerce, one giant leap for customer services.

Ah, I wonder if that means BlitzTree3D 2 is ready for release?

"puki" flexes his credit card - whilst drooling.

Hey, be happy that someone (hopefully) got decent money out of bedroom coding efforts...

Just a shame that a lot of it came from people who didn't get what they paid for.

'Good riddance. '

Will someone feed Noel a spoonfull of sugar and send him to bed till he sweetens up?

I can't comment on Aliencodec's other software, but I bought the Blitzgrass and BlitzTree libraries and have been well happy with them. It can't be a good thing to see a Blitz dev go south (if they are going south).

Good riddance.

Agreed!

They had horrible customer support, never gave some customers the product(s) they paid for, and they made slow, shoddy tools. It was only a matter of time before their inane business practices caused them to collapse.

If you don't like me saying what I think instead of "Oh no! *GASP* They went out of business! This is a sad day for us all!" then you probably need a reality check.

I have never bought anything from them so I didn't know squat about their products and customer service... too bad if they both really were so bad.

The above doesn't really seem to me like "collapse" and "out of business"... more like bigger company buying them and AC making some money in the process. Also if they will re-appear in jan it means that they will probably make more products but now just under TGC flag.

I consider that a collapse. If your business is doing so miserably that you need someone else to support you then you're failing.

Iam still waiting for some modules i was promised months ago.. :(

I think your way off the mark here, to me and I'm sure to others it looks like GC saw what was a good business move and bought out the rights to all their stuff.

I suspect that when they come back after the new year it will be under a new name , with a new line of products. and I would bet that the gamecreators paid them a healthy sum for their product range.

This is not a collapse at all. its a buyout, and for anyone from this community to get into a position that a bigger company values their work enough to buy them out can only be an awsomely good thing. not just for them but for the community as well.

Sell out, buy out, collapse what ever... I dont give much for companies who dont keep their promises.. If you cant handle your business then maybe you should consider doing something else. Thats my opinion. I am so tired of some developers here in these forums who dont have no sence or ethics of how to to business... I dont care much about the money i have wasted, its more lack of fundamental insight in good relationship that i have hard to accept.
BUT! there are very good reliable developers here also like Filax,Swift,Halo,Viper etc.. who shall have a big
commendation for their oustanding work, support, fast delivery.

Sorry about my comment but i just wanted to get it of my chest.

@AlienForce .. thats the biggest lot of bull@#!* I think iv seen anyone type.

I dont know of any business that would turn down a good offer to buy them out, this is how the world works, Rare being bought out by MS for example, Rare could have easily gone solo they have the tallent and the IP, but the money they got from MS was to good to pass up, this does not mean they dont respect or are not thankfull of their gamers. thats just stupid.

I suspect that the money aliencodec made from the sale of all of their IP and possibly the company name as well will allow him/them to venture into new areas of design and programming, you never know it might just be allowing them to devote more time and effort into their work, which can only be better for the people who like thier work.

As for customer support, its been said that their support was poor, any of you not realise how hard support is if your a one man or small team, we all know the rivalry between GC and BR, but for those moaning about the support, dont you realise that a bigger company is going to be able to provide better support for the products.

God, there are either a lot of very Envy Green colourd people here or your just to blind to see that for AlienCodec this was a very very good thing. as well as being good for their customers.

Yavin: My comments was not directed for Aliencodec specific. Only the thing that a promise is always a promise. the rest was just my thoughts about "bad business"
concerning others.
Sorry if i offened you.

Who on this forum conducts bad business?
