Gameboy Evolution

Miscellaneous Forums/General Discussion/Gameboy Evolution

Does anyone know anything about this alleged machine? Rumours sound interesting; and Nintendo have already said that the DS wasn't designed to be their response to the PSP and that this would be left to the next Gameboy.

I dont even think Nintendo should even have to respond to the PSP, the DS is clearly doing fine as is by competing indirectly vs. the PSP, even though it may not have been their original intentions.

I suspect that you won't see another gameboy for at least a year.

I heard a little bit about this rumor.......apparently its suppose to have the same "flip-top clam-shell" like body similar to the DS and GBA, runs at "128-bit" so I'm assuming PSP level graphics but they state it's more advance than the dreamcast, runs those tiny disc that the current Game Cube uses, will be backwards compatible with previous gameboy systems via some sort of device reader. Its slated to appear sometimes next year and will make public appearance in the next E3. Yes doesn't make much sense....but then again, when does Nintendo ever?

ALSO....theres rumors that theres going to be a Game Cube "Next" in the works....(not the to be confused with the upcoming Ninentdo Revolution) but new version of the GameCube with some suped up power....BUT.... to add to the confusion, theres apparently going to be TWO version of the GameCube Next in works....each with different specs.....

And......just for sh*ts and giggles, I hear Mark Sibly wears pink underwear.....

now go.....spread the rumors.....!!!!

I doubt that Nintendo would stop using carts for their handhelds. Low power consumption and easy portability is what makes them so succesful!

Well said Mr. Picklesworth. The only problem that I have with Nintendo and their handhelds ( other than the new gameboys with the bright screen ) is that the screens are terrible! Has anyone tried to play a DS outside or in a car durring the day? It is impossible! Any who, Nintendo is and will always own the handheld market because they keep it simple. I love my PSP but I can't stand UMDs!

Urgh...

It's worse on the PSP with it's glossy plastic cover.

I like the games that give the option to turn off the DS backlight, makes it alot easier to see outside.
(why they just didnt give us a toggle-button for it like the GBA SP though I dont know)

Glossy plastic cover?

My DS has crappy "silver" paint that peels off after a few knocks and underneith its just cheap plastic. it looks *naff*

Love the DS though, but now I am actually considering a PSP.

I heard that their new handheld is a GameCube, from what I read they managed to cram the electronics of the GameCube into the same relative space as the DS, and that the only thing holding them back at the moment, is power consumption.

I guess as soon as they knock that out we will start to see screen shots and get more info..

Iv also read that the DS is outselling the PSP, I know I bought one and it kciks ass. I think its better than the PSP, maby not in terms of gfx, but in terms of the console as a whole, games, design, ease of use .. the DS wins hands down.

Least it still protects your DS screen, where-as the "glossy" plastic cover for the PSP loves to be a dust-magnet and makes tiny scratches when you try to clean it off.
(and those tiny scratches become large over time....)

Anyonw know of any liquid solution to filling up gaps in plastic btw? Got this nasty little scratch on the inside of my DS (dont know how that one happened), and I'd like to fill it up to make it less of an eye-sore if possible.

I too heard that the gameboy evolution is a handheld gamecube. I could only imagine playing resident evil 4 on a handheld.
