Who else in this forum purchased B3D the day it was released?

There must still be a few of tthe oldies still hanging around these forums?

Well I was here well before that...as was Mousey.

IPete2.

I've been lurking since Q2 2001.

Same here - roundabout (and I came to Blitz roundabout having looked at DarkBasic)

>Who else in this forum purchased B3D the day it was

I bought B3D within a month from the release, and propably B2D a few weeks after release.

I havent bought BMX yet and don't know if I will.

Andy

arrh Dark-basic I almost managed to erased that part of my life from my brain.

That would be me. Kinda.

I been around in one form or another for many years now, i was also a beta tester on B3D

Cheveron ... I saw you were back around! I was BAN300 before ... you helped me get started way back when Blitz3D was released with some FTP stuff. I didn't actually get on the bandwagon on the day it was released but it was January 2002 ... and I had been checking the site to see when it would be done ... so I must have been near the release. Anyway, it's good to see you're back.

I was here when BlitzBasic 2d was in beta as was several others here :)

Hi Jeremy, nice too see you are still around, and producing some decent stuff by the looks of it.

I am an oldie - back in the Amiga days circa '91/'92 - old skool - check-it Large.

Didn't get B3D the day it was released though - coz, I didn't have internet - had to wait for it to come in the post - still, I got a boxed CD and a printed manual with it.

I was a fully paid up member of BUM.

It's interesting to see how Mark's vision of a language has changed over the years. Anyone remember the userlib fiasco with numbers?

I kind of miss the lil yellow compiling lines in ted.

Time for a game of draughs before nurse armstrong takes me for a bath. Yabba yabba, before the war. Yes. And rationing.

I tried Blitz Basic on the Amiga and hated it, I couldn't understand it. I was just too AmosPro'd by then in the way I thought and too young to understand other ways of approaching problems.

I didn't try Blitz again until getting fed up of a rival product and deciding to "have another go".

I have been around so long, I rember the commands bert and ernie. Cant rember if there was a bigbird one tho!

BUM died though didn't it? I seem to remember they stopped coming - sniff. Used to get all excited when the package came through the post with the disks and the BUM - I'm sure I only ever had 4 magazines in the post - a pink one, a white one, a greyish one and another one (might be green), got them somewhere in my room.

EDIT, I think the green one I was thinking of was actually a sort of blueish one - or, maybe not.

My copy of Blitz arrived August 22, 2002

I'm also a convert after getting darkbasic and then being shown the light..

Same as One Eyed Jack here. Played with Blitz Basic II demo which came on an Amiga Format magazine edition. The mag had an IsoBlaster tutorial if I remember right(?).
I then subscribed to the BUM stuff.

Anyone remember the classic Blitz Defender remake and Zombie Apocalypse?

skid,
Do you still have the BUM mags in PDF format?
You linked to them sometime back on the Acid site.

B3D Beta team here... so I got mine free. :)

Bought B2D the day it was released...

Bought B+ shortly after release...

Bought Max shortly after release...

Think I had BBII back in the day but it's been too long to remember.

I was around quite a bit into B3d's life, was hanging over BlitzCoder.com learning the grips with programming (BB2d be my first language), after 6 months of playing with the B2d demo, decided to take myself a step further and purchased B3d, then started hanging out here more often once BC.com was getting a bit out of hand in terms of maturity levels.

Man them were the days when BMax was first mentioned, all the speculation & rumours going about on how godly the language will become, good to see the language lived up to my expectations (although it does have quite a few bugs, which Mark & Co. seem to be blasting at a good speed thankfully) although I do have yet to purchase it.
(waiting on 3d module as alot of others are)

got BlitzBasic 2.1 still in original box with manuals disks etc :D

I'm a 'miggy man too.

But in terms of these forums, I think FlameDuck wins so far in this post (userid 22, hover over the names to find out in the URL), just pipping EdzUp at 26 and Kanati at 28.

Mark's at number 1 of course, skid's at number 5, with just a "Darren Hebden" at number 2 - who's that?

If Beaker shows up, I think he's the lowest numbered active non-BRL user at number 7, closely followed by our old friend Rob Cummings at number 8.

Me? I'm a lowly 566.

I bought my copy of blitz back in the stone age from a man called 'ugg'
I paid two pebbles for it.
It was very basic then, ie you had to put two rocks together to get the answer of '2' .
However I was too busy painting pictures of animals on cave walls to bother learning it properly.

My copy of B3D is the best, it can run faster than any other B3D.

Beat that suckers.

My copy of B3D was hand crafted by Tibetan Monks then bathed in the milk of ancient roman vestial virgins. It was then carried around the world on the backs of angels before being presented to me in a week long ceremony involving many wonderous delights too numerous to mention.

That and it has a manual.

OOh I'm number 8 :) I like to keep my old post count hidden though. Reformed character and all that...

I've got Amos, Amos Compiler, Blitz Basic 2, DarkBasic, and Blitz 3D all in original boxes, although some of them are a bit twisted by now.

I think I bought Blitz 3D the second or third day after it was released.

Yeah had Amos, and tried BB2 on the Amiga, thought both were good at the time, but I wasnt coding a lot and was getting fed up with My Fidonet connection..

So upgraded to a 486..

Of course the id's on this don't reflect the old basement days either.... :)

I bought B3D just over a year ago. I feel so young. :(

Because you are. Stop being moronic and start enjoying the fact that you are young cos everyone old wishes they were.

i used blitz on the amiga until i bought a pc like 2 months later then I got mixed with the qbasic crowd and then visual basics, delphi,c,c++ and then 3d rad(puke) and around that time a fella named Gigabyte showed me something he was working on in this great new language called blitz3d released like a month ago and I was hooked ever since :)

I moved straight from my old Spectrum 128k with a radiator like heat sink to a PC, - a 386sx 12mhz with a massive (for the time) 30 mb hard drive, so I missed out on the earlier Amiga Blitz products.
Most of my early programming efforts were written in Borland's Turbo C.
My route to Blitz on the PC was similar to others - 3d rad - Conitec Game Studio - Dark Basic - through which I discovered Blitz3d sometime in 2002.
Best bit of software I ever bought !

When I tripped over PC Blitz, I remember it had a website that had a black background with a Blitz logo (or something) in the middle. Then it became a forum with a green-ish background (that I'm still trying to find), and then Blitz Basement started up and the green forum shut down. Then the Basement shut down controversially and the first version of this site started up.

From (far distant) memory, the first two sites I mentioned didn't have 'blitz' in the URL, so they've proved elusive when searching for them in the Wayback Machine, but everything else is there for some sort of perusal.

And any day now I'll make the most of nearly five years of lurking and take over the world!

I been here for a little while now. :D

I'm still around, this is actually my second account that I got when I registered Blitz3D, my original account "Darkheart" is ID 161. Since the clampdown on open discussion, an increase in my workload and loss of interest in game programming, I've been around less and less, but I still like to pop in occasionally.

I bought BB and loved the simplicity of it, B3D was tremendously exciting when it came out. I also own B+ which is the only app I still really use, primarly as a RAD tool for small apps in conjunction with Wiebo's GUide.

I've never gone for BMax, it never came across to me as a finished product like B3D did and I've yet to see anything impressive done in Max.

Darkheart

I have preordered the B3D boxed version decades ago. I guess it was already released in the UK, USA etc. and arrived on the continent some time later.

I finished some works with DP and never touched it again. Although it's designed for games creation, B3D became my all purpose tool for some reason.

Not having owned an Amiga, I didn't catch the Blitz train until pretty late on - about 2.5 years ago, I think. The first I heard about it was from John Pickford who used to mention how good Blitz3D was, on an old forum I used to frequent. Well, I think I had heard of 'BlitzBASIC' before that but, having taken years to move from BASIC to C, I'm sure the word BASIC put me off investigating further. :P

As for the Internet, I resisted getting into it for quite some time. It really didn't interest me, to begin with. Think I first got online in about 1997. That makes me quite young, in Internet years. Horray! :)

Stop being moronic and start enjoying the fact that you are young cos everyone old wishes they were.
I've been here long enough to realise that's what rob has always been like; since 2000.

I got Blitz a couple of years ago. Had an Amiga before that, with Amos, but never got into Blitz on it. When I decided my 500 was outdated I ended up getting a 1200 - it was that or a PC (eugh!). It was a waste of money cos the Amiga was dead by then. Began learning C from a games programming book, but checked Blitz out when a friend mentioned it was available for PC. The Blitz demos were more impressive than the ones with the C book, and a lot less work, so here I am!

I had Blitz Basic 2, still got the box and everything. Use it loads. Nearly bought Dark Basic a couple of years ago but held off and bought Blitz Plus this time last year (n00b!)

Sounds like you're a very judgemental person. You've always been a snide commentator since 2000 I recall.

Now now children, play nice or you go into the naughty corner :)

I'd only want to be younger if I could keep the same knowledge I have now. I'm also fitter now than I was 5-10 years ago although my capability to maintain fitness has decreased with age. Also my pen**.... no, let's not go there ;-)

You've always been a snide commentator since 2000 I recall.
Stop being moronic robbie.

Yeh, that's my job - everyone stop muscling my style

I purchased BB2D in september 2000 and B3D i got
before release since I did work for Idigicon at the time...

I bought B3D fresh on release day. a convert from Darkbasic back then and never looked back.

Stop being moronic robbie.
I really don't know what your problem is but if you think I'm moronic then I've probably managed to insult you without any effort whatsoever.

It takes a special kind of nerd to be insulted that way, with this much EASE... why not shut up? fanks.

Oh dear oh dear

lol. Look up 'nerd' in the dictionary and you'll find a picture of a programmer. Embrace your nerdiness! :)

[edit] wtf? Have a load of posts been deleted or have I posted in the wrong thread, or something? It's my birthday, consequently I'm drunk (to forget :P ) and rather confused.

What have you got against nerds, rob? Did a nerd once steal your girlfriend or something?

I haven't got anything against nerds. You seem really defensive like it's bad to be a nerd or something. Feel free to respond to this post but I have closed the matter now and will not reply.

Did a nerd once steal your girlfriend or something?

Hahahah....yeah sure.....!!

End of.
