Ha ha ha - I only just saw this (Thanks Sid).

Boy, he's sending this to everyone, huh? Fun little thing to watch, even if he got his panties in a bunch when I told him I don't like any of the old games.

Well Noodle, I guess you had to be there to enjoy those kinda games. Remember this was like moving pictures - very exciting and novel - so anything that moved or was colourful was innovative and fun, just to behold, never mind to play.

Game play in early games was breaking new ground every second, now games seem to cover the same ground, except in Nintendos case.

We can have this debate later.

ok

What debate?

This got posted a month or so back. I like the video but not the music.

Oh soz guys, I missed it back then - it's old huh!?

IPete2.

T'is old, but who's Sid? :P

Ha ha ha - the intrigue...

Well, Sid used to be a member of this fine community, he now resides in Florida, doing college C++ and other funky stuff (game design, programming etc), lucky chap!

Cool.. but shouldn't that be 48k ? :)

yeah whoever played a decent game on a 16K machine? probably I should duck now. Actuall maybe 48 didn't rhyme or have the right rhytm or something.

So far as I remember, the early Ultimate (now RARE) classics ran on the 16K Spectrum - Jetpac, Tranz-Am, Pssst and maybe another one or two. They then moved up to the 48K with stuff like Atic Atac and Knight Lore.

OK I take it back.

Hey Grey, you're right for 99% of 16K stuff - it sucked! "Ultimate Play The Game" really were the exception to the rule.

I'm just a bit of a Speccy fan-boy, so can't help but post pointless trivia given the chance. :)

Yeah, I was going to mention JetPac. :) Sir Lacelot (Melbourne House, I think) was also a pretty good 16k platformer.

BTW, did anyone actually buy the 16k version of the speccy? I was destined to get one originally but then my Uncle persuaded my Nan to get me the 48k version, instead. Thank God for that! ;P

I went straight for the 48K although by then the black + one was out.

Ah, I think they'd ditched the 16k model by then.

Adventure on the Atari 2600 was 4K.

Now I remember having a galaxians type game on my Vic20 and if memory serves me right that had 3.5K of user memory.

My friend had that game on a Vic20 cartridge, I was amazed by it and kept trying to go round to his house at the weekend.
