Off-topic: When I thought of how a keyboard would do that, I thought of rapid-fire controllers. Do they still make controllers with rapid-fire? I remember that being all the rage back in the ole 8bit days, but I haven't seen a controller with rapid-fire functionality in like forever.

I have a few old controllers with rapid fire switches. Also, my handheld PC-Engine has builtin rapid fire switches for both buttons. :)
