XBox 360 controller for PC

Miscellaneous Forums/General Discussion/XBox 360 controller for PC

Questions for anybody that has one:

1. Is the controller the exact same for the PC and 360?
2. Are they both USB, or is there an adapter for the PC version?

I was going to pick one up today, but the PC version was in a different box, and marked $8.00 higher! If they are identical, I'd like to just buy the 360 version if it works straight away on the PC.

anyone?

software.

but otherwise.. as far as I can tell... yeah. they are the same..

I bet the 8 bucks is worth it tho... prolly something built into windows or into the controler, that stops you from useing the cheaper one...

So,... 8 bucks for drivers that will most likely be out of date before I open the box?

Think I'll save the money if that's the case.

on the ms web site it has the controler for windows at:

Circuit city $39.99
Best Buy $44.99

Just buy the regular 360 controller which is cheaper ... it works and it will automagically install the drivers for it from Windows Update as soon as you plug it in. I just took mine directly out of my 360 and plugged it into my PC in the middle of testing and it worked. MS is just trying to make a few extra dollars by giving you a CD ... that you don't need!

The controller works great with Blitz although you need the XInput lib in order to use the rumble and voice features.

Thanks for the info,... that is what I figured, but I didn't want to get it until I was sure.

Heheh, the common controller and wired 360 controller are actually the same price in the UK (£19.99 from Amazon).

I will be getting one just after Christmas. Fancy, a Fantavision clone for PC....
