I borrowed a Smartdisk Firelite 100GB Hard Drive from my work, and it won't appear on my PC. It was formatted on a Mac (OSX) so I'm wondering if it's that. The drive is bus powered firewire. When it's plugged in, the two-tone plug & play sound sounds (twice) and the drive spins, but the drive doesn't appear.
I was told that my iPod had to be formatted on a PC in order to be recognised on both formats, since formatting it on a Mac would mean it could only work on a Mac.
