Christmas Bonus

Miscellaneous Forums/General Discussion/Christmas Bonus

This is in relation to naming a game so please don't delete. Does the term "Christmas Bonus" mean anything to Americans or is it just an English thing? Many thanks in advance.

That reminds me- im due £500 soon.

I'd think they will have thought up the xmas bonus over there by now- Im also pretty sure i've seen it in smoe films.

Here in the US, it's money given by an employer to employees a bit before Christmas. I used to get one every year (the amount reflecting both how well the company did that year and how happy the boss was with my performance). Is it the same thing in England?

yeah totally the same thing which is cool as I want to use it as a name as bonus is a pun(?) of course for bonus items in games.

what about us non-American and non-English? :(

Ferminho: ah yes, well, the game is going to be in English with English instructions etc so I'm afraid the title will have to be in English too, do you have a suggestion?

I endorse this title!

You can't use an Asterix & Obelix character to say a quote in English!

On a more helpful note, it means the same thing in Canada, and it also works in French. 'Prime de Noël,' which is basically the literal translation for Christmas Bonus.

cool thanks.

Does this work in French?

je pète dans votre direction générale

/me fires a live cow at Cygnus.

heh, nearly fell of me chair again..!

Ahh, good ole Monty Python!

Well I knew it all apart from pète but based on the context, it was obvious, lol

The word 'pète' is wrong, I think - babel fish couldn't translate it. I did work out what it said before going to babel, though. Honest! :)

'pète' isn't wrong :)

ok fart brains, back on topic, christmas/seasonal games?

Gosh! A personal insult! Skid! Shag! where are you???

Ahem... yeah, back on topic.....

There was a SouthPark platformer going around that had a christmassy theme- I'll see if i can find it a tad later on. Theres also a cool game a mate of mine worked on that went very well with haloween, Will ask him to show his face later :)

wait I've jsut got you back onto the wrong topic, the christmas games one is another thread sorry.

Anyway XMAS BONUS, good name for a game?

I vote this topic to be DELETED! Why? because it's funny. :)

> Skid! Shag!

A skid shag? Sounds erotic.

Xmas Bonus - good name

Here's some more thoughts...

Christmas Crackers
Christmas Puddings
Snowball Scramble (oh no that one is taken lol!)
Xmas Wrappings

IPete2.

I take it you've scrapped 'that' other name then, grey?
(the one your missus came up with)

Heh, the new game graphics have made it necessary to re-name it.

Thanks IPete2 for your vote of confidence and suggestions. My missus likes the name too, it came to me last night at about 2am when I was trying to go to sleep so I knew it was right!

Big10p: Yeah new graphics, wait and see ... ;-) Also I think Tim thought up the name you saw, my missus thought up a similar uh dumb one ... Be-Yuled.

Be-Yuled. That was the one you told me. :)

So now I can release c'baubled :D

The term "Christmas Bonus" is somewhat obsolete. I haven't heard it used in ages. We receive a bonus in time for Christmass (late November) but it's just called a bonus.

hmm, well as the market is over 40 they'll probably remember the term.

Tim: re: c'baubled, well I do have some hany bauble graphics kicking around ...
