..here is few screenies from my architectural walktrough, comercial one, I talk about before..geometry is completely done as well as furniture (not composed together yet), light is done except I didnt make it smoother, but I will for final compilation, so this is non textured geometry, I will post further images (textures on geometry and furniture) as well as final exe when I finish everything in next 7 days..credits for environment textures, going to Octane Digital Studio ltd..tools used is AutoCad, 3DSMAX 7.0/B3D Pipeline, Photoshop CS, TexCompress and Blitz3D.. here is screenies anyway..

Very nice building. I'd really wish to make a game out of it. How did you make the glass so "milky" and are you using z-sorting for alpha objects to prevent z-buffer troubles?
this is geometry without textures..just basic light in order to be sure that everything casting properly..for milky glass, I did some work with opacity over material within 3Dsmax and then disable 2 sided mapping and its working as I expect...I have plenty of buildings like this one I did before..I just didnt show anything here since peoples usually posting games not architectural works..whole structure is 9000 polys, with separate room walls, so it easy possible to do occlusion...
When do I get to start populating it with my Sims?
is it rendered in blitz3d?
the fps and position debugging info in the upper left corner actualy does suggest it's blitz.
it is Blitz3D...this FPS I have on my nVidia 5600XT..I took it as a low end for this type of projects..
This is cool. Usually this kind of stuff is prerendered, no? You've done a great job here, though.
With modeling that good, you barely need any textures.
How did you get the job?
Simply I talk with some peoples, connections from some friends, and few times show them that I really can do this stuff, and they like it..Usually peoples using Quest3D for this purpose, but I find Blitz3D much more better, faster and stable than Quest3D ...if everything is nicely optimized for Blitz3D, thats the jackpot...instead of showhouse (cost few hundred thousands for built up), its much more cheaper for them to buy this, more effective and more than good enough for me and my work...with included real time animation inside, they like product a lot and by now I have 4 customers online for new products... past 1 year, I earn a lot of money with product like this one...next step is simulations..I have something in sight, but still not clear, and if that come out, i will be happy to include guys from forum here whos really seriously interested...if you like it, I will post few products liek this one I did already..and Glenny, yes, usually peoples ordering prerendered animation for this purpose..but I kick their asses with real time walktrou + real time waypoints animation included...everything they have to do is one press to space bar and thats it...
It's very professional looking, the kind of presentation you'd see at some company stand or some conference, really. I like it a lot, although it's true I also imagine a HUD and a weapon and shooting like mad at the glasses and seeing them break down in pieces. Sorry, can't help it.

Maybe he can add that as a feature, to see what would happen if a terrorist had gone berserk on the project!! ;) hehe
Impressive. I bet you can make more money doing this with blitz3D, rather than games.
very good money...costumers is big condominium developers...money big for me is nothing for them..soo...nice symbiosis...
Is this your full-time job then?
No..I'm doing this in my free time..I need about 1 month and half to build structure like this one, out of AutoCad drawings...
it looks verrrrrry professional NA...
products like Quest3D are indeed chosen by many to do these sorta things, mainly because there is lil or no programming involved... partly because they represent themselves as a big, stable, reliable company and charge what the industry expects a major player to charge...
i think it's great that you can bring in a project under the competitions budget, with the same level of quality, and the added flexibility of having a programing environment behind it...
... and still make a decent dollar or two for yourself.

..far as I know, Quest3D is not flexible for fast changes like Blitz3D (this is usual issue with peoples in this bussines, they always wanna change something), and appart from that, Blitz3D can run bigger number of polys than Quest3D, I try it becouse I own Quest3D .. by now, for this kind of bussines, Blitz3D is just rock..thats my experiance..by the way Red, this is walktrou I talk about, and plenty things in there is very reflective, you will see that in final release, and its looking just good..I think you will like furniture... ;))
This is interesting. Have you written your own environment editor, or do you code everything from the ground up?
I purchase Teraed from Filax and then rewrite some stuff in there, so i can do setting up lights, geometry, texture, vfx..anyway, I can use it now for indoor as well as outdoor scenery..I'm waiting for latest Filax update for TeraEd (GUI issues and unlimited terrain support)...Light is done in 3DSMAX and exported over B3D pipeline (data, position, far/near)..
NA... yeah... that's the point i was making... Blitz will let you make changes a lot easier than Quest3D and gives you an additional level of flexibility in your presentations...
yes... i remember the Unity example i posted about and you saying you had something similar in the works...
would really luv to see the actual demo... looks really immersive from the shots...

NA: Does your contract actually let you release the finished project to anyone other than your client? I'm a bit surprised about that, if they do.
I'm sure you will like it..and take a look at bed's..and tell me what you think how many polys is that ;)..I mean when I post new screenies in next few days..I have to compose everything and do additional lighting, anyway, very soon I will post it...
If most of you haven't realised that getting a job is all about connections, then i will so forth consider myself a very intelllligent person.
Naughty, GET THOSE LIGHTMAPS to HIGH RES!! Get more memory or load/unload as you walk around. Trust me, commercial people (non gamers) will notice this as something REALLLLY ugly. I know when i made some house, its the first thing they noticed.
Another advice, for the final render of lightmap try using radiosity (if your renderer supports it), it makes a heck of a difference if you include all the objects, even tho the lightmap doesnt reflect colour.
as I mention in my first post, its draft lightmap, not softened, final one...
Oh ok sorry, i didnt quite understand it that way.
