converting avi to dvd iso

anyone know of a freeware app to convert avi to dvd writeable ready media? or commercial if it's good.

You can't. DVD = MPEG2 = License fees = Commercial software.

Nero works well, if you have the whole package (including NeroVision Express).

I just went through this whole thing over the weekend.. I downloaded every avi->dvd program there is and they all suck!
the best one ive found is 'AVI2DVD' which is free btw. although it never did work correctly because of some kind of audio stream issue. The second best i found was 'WinAviVideoConverter' its not free but works well enough.

You get better results if you get an AVI -> MPG conversion program, and use a seperate program to burn the MPG to DVD.

I use WinAVI that GW mentioned. It's good enough that I bought it after only a half hour of fiddling with it.
