Kind of strange, but a lot more interesting than the geeky stuff that MS pass for AD's here in the US. Most of the time Xbox Ad's embarrass me. Kind of sad like Alija Woods (frodo) and the MTV launch show. If you know what I mean.

Holy weirdness. Wake me up when games are that immersive!

Again, Microsoft completely fail to 'get' how to attract the I-want-to-spend-money UK crowd's attention.

We are a country with a trillion pounds worth of consumer debt. You are going to have to try harder to sell the 360 to us than playing nonsensical adverts on our TV's.

I'm just glad I don't watch TV at all.

I agree.
Like I said in that other post, I really feel that the current
360 commercials are terribly ineffective.

MS runs the ads they can't run here in the UK cause they don't care and assume the UK is just like america only with looser standards for TV.

(i didn't watch it yet)

but I bet that it would be a great ad for the USA... only they could never air it. Cause... if they could... they would have.

EDIT.... um... nvm what i said.

That was stupid.

We are a country with a trillion pounds worth of consumer debt. You are going to have to try harder to sell the 360 to us than playing nonsensical adverts on our TV's.

That seems backwards. If you're apt to spend and are prone to buying, it would seem that less effort would be required.

WarrenM: Yeah, I guess what I was thinking really was "look, we're in loads of debt so haven't got as much spare cash around because of having to pay credit card bills, do I really need to buy a console?".

Not me personally, because I just moved house to escape £12k of debt (I know, I am a bad person) but other folk are using previously spare cash to pay off loans and other debts. More people then ever there were, infact.

Thats a very common problem here in the states, where in many places your car is a status symbol. One of the first things I noticed was how few old cars there were compared to the UK.

With interest free credit on many cars, and people refinancing their homes to purchase an Expensive German car to show off to the neighbours. I don't think were much better off here.

Here's an old UK Xbox commercial that I thought was pretty cool. I think iot eventually got banned after being aired for a couple of weeks.

Theres not actually that many 'old' cars in the uk, the salt air dissolves them.

Evak, that last one aired here in Norway too.. I really liked that one, although I don't like Xbox..

There's a few good commercials, and a few billion bad ones.
Although I've noticed that they have TONS of insurance and banking commercials in the UK, and Im glad that we don't have that much here.
I think its mainly milk, cars, magazines and frozen pizzas they advertise here.. :)

That TV add did indeed get banned in the UK.

why did they ban it really? I don't see anything wrong with it.. its just humour isn't it? no blood or sexual references.. hmm..

we've come along way since the crusades, haven't we?

Not really, just more elitist.

I think I saw that commercial here in the US. It's an impressively made commercial, but it didn't really make me want to buy an xbox!

Why would it get banned? Doesn't make sense at all.

It got banned because some simpering do-good everything-should-be-wrapped-in-cotton-wool idiots decided that it might be a little upsetting for everyone else to watch so they took it upon themselves to complain to the ITC.

But cotton wool sucks... it's all about the steel wool.

Sir, I commend your ability to move an in-joke to a context where it makes very little sense (Also: Sir, I salute your courage, your strength, your indefatigability)

The ad will -not- appeal to people interested in getting an xbox anyway.

The purpose of advertising is to target the people who AREN'T your customers.

That is how it works in the UK. The uk actually has won the most awards for advertising innovation in the world.

It is not in any way designed to appeal to people who already are interested in an xbox 360 as you are already likely to buy one. That would be a waste of advertising.
