...surely it is.
I read the latest thread offering a pack, and thought of my old idea reading Puki's posts. (read him also at a great medieval pack made for someone(really impressive stuff))
Puki, I'd love your passion about medieval characters was in common with some hundreds of other users...
Argh...is my speciality, characters, even animated, and specially medieval...
I'd love to have the time to do a pack -not in between jobs now- Heck, maybe we all the artists should organize to make the kick ass medieval pack(though have seen one the other day that would kick anyone *self censored* )...
Or even several themed packs, so, artist pick one and each artist do what he cans and gets the proportional income...
Nope it never ever would work.
We all like money too much.
Or...it should have such a perfect organization system(like a virtual store , a database, something) that would make each one recieve with no fails his money, and also no more than that...A kind of comunity projects but with income for the ppl taking part, according to what they did.
There could be packs, like a urban people one with urban objects , buildings and all(did that for the food plate)...a medieval one...and artists would be submitting with a fixed quantity per piece...yet though this would be impossible without a serious system and the worst thing...some kind of quality control(to not end up seing ur art with crap in a pack), and man, that's so subjetive...Some would be acepted, some not. Maybe just a bank to upload, alla Turbosquid but with less burocracy to get your stuff in, and each artist would earn per copy sold... Yup, that'd be quite better. Artists with take their best effort to output quality, as they earn per copy sold. Better than fixed quantity. Included of course in a pack, but paid to the artists separatedly. So the blitzcoder authors could go aquiring more and better content of the theme of their game, as artsists submit.
And then I woke up.
A wet dream.
back to the real world...
Most artists play alone. I myself. :/
yet though, while I can't make a pack, can do isolated stuff now and then, and ppl get really happy with my models (wether I'm good or ppl are desperate, i dunno... ;) /JOKE/ ) , am almost sure some other artists could be in this situation. Is just a dream of join strenghts of the game-companies-already-contracted-with-no-time, to make something useful for game authors...heck, is quite a wet dream, indeed.
One of the main problems is: usually people don't wanna see -myself- their art mixed with art which is no good..but there the quality control need, which is almost a must. A kind of mafia control, hehe. ;)
Well, if 'judges' were Evak, Mustang, Svenart(such great medieval content), Tigerz, Ruz and of that skills level, heh, who could complain a decission ;) ...Sorry if I forget some graphics ace(quite some here, as u see.Is not so common in game dev places), just have bad memory.
Well, I am also tempted by doing just packs in my own in an sloooow, slow pace...just gotta see how Turbosquid really works and stuff...
Perhaps is just the sunday mourning bad waking up...
