Best Graphics card for £100?
Miscellaneous Forums/General Discussion/Best Graphics card for £100?
Can anyone recommend please an AGP graphics card for about £100?
Ideally I want 256MB RAM but if there is a trade off with speed and RAM then please suggest away.

PC Format have ongoing recommendations for cards:
Best Buy (sub £200):
Radeon X800GT - circa £110 - Powercolor
Top Spec (sub £100):
Gigabyte 6600GT - circa £100 - Gigabyte
6600GT is a good buy. Mine was about $140 bit less than 100 quid and a huge leap over my Geforce 3 lol. 256mb may be a little more though.
the x800GT isn't any good for for opengl. You are better off with the 6600GT.
-HOWEVER-
You can now get a 6800 ULTRA for £120 ish if you shop around. This is still a mindblowingly great card. So if you can get the 6800 ultra for £100-£140 (no more than that).
Failing that, the 6600GT is actually better than the x800GT. I found this out the hard way, 6600GT is way faster on opengl games.
I know all this stuff from first hand experiences with the cards.
@Jack,
Thanks for that - I think I'll be wandering over to PC World or MicroDirect later today.

If memory serves me correctly, the nVidia cards also seem to generally outperform their respective ATI rivals in the Doom3 tests by noticable margins.
PC world really overcharge.

Got my 6600GT from dabs about a month ago for under £100. Very pleased so far!
Yes, but didn't the ATI cards absolutely trounce the Nvidia cards with HL2?
Well, there is a little story bout this, but i'll be brief.
I decided to upgrade my PC memory 512 upto 1GB. My new mem arrived but did not boot once installed. Having proved the memory was fine I swapped it for some compatible memory with my Father in law. As I was installing the memory a small component fell off my graphics card. Now the PC wouldnt work at all! DOH!
Thats why I wanted a new card, however this am, I managed to solder the component back on with my tiny soldering iron. I am writing this via the pc obviously but the grfx card is working again. Hooray!
I say hooray because on one hand that's great news - saved £100 - but on the other hand I wanted to get a more recnet card than my GeForce Ti500 64MB (which actually is fab but a little aged now). Thanks for all your help people, I now know which card I will purchase if in the next month or so, my handy work fails!
I will probably go for the nVidia 6600GT or the Ultra version 256MB AGP.

Good show pete!

Nope.
The performance difference between a midrange 128MB and 256MB card isn't enough to justify the price.
