What does Mark Sibly look like?

Miscellaneous Forums/General Discussion/What does Mark Sibly look like?

Just wondered about this as I have been a blitz person since blitz basic 2 on the amiga and seeing as he is the man behind it all...

I googled it of course but nothing (unless he looks like an old vicar!)

(unless he looks like an old vicar!)

That sounds like him. :)

to paraphrase:

Who is Mark Sibly? He is supposed to be Turkish. Some say his father was German. Nobody believed he was real. Nobody ever saw him or knew anybody that ever worked directly for him, but to hear BRL tell it, anybody could have worked for Sibly. You never knew. That was his power. The greatest trick the Devil ever pulled was convincing the world he didn't exist.

Makes you think, doesn't it?

Pic of Mark taken shortly after MaxGUI release

Mark Sibly is his secret identity. He's actually Batman!

I see he's been reading message boards all day...

lol @ Tom.

Well think "mullet"

I don't think he's ever gonna escape that Amiga magazine shot (skids afro springs to mind too)

Amiga magazine shot

Is there a way to look at it?

lol at my imagination, find the pic dude!

The pic is dead sexy

I may have seen it at the time as it did buy BBasic 2 after reading about it in an Amiga mag.

He can't possibly STILL have a mullet - they were outlawed years ago. :P

Hmmm, with all the stress at BRL HQ, I'm betting he's as bald as a Coot, now! :O

>What does Mark Sibly look like?

He's a giant midget, so he should be easy to find.

Andy

Not an exact picture, but I feel it's representative of Mark's current state of mind (plus it's an extremely well-known picture, so I'm suprised nobody posted it).

Nooodle that is GROSS!!!! but LOL!

christ I'm still laughing!

it's representative of Mark's current state of mine

You own no state of Marks =]

I own some marks and their states.

I have found the original Amiga Magazine photo from historyfiles.org:

That's much less terrible than the picture I'm familiar with.

but that phot isn't scanned, looks like a digital camer was used i.e. after Amiga era. Explain!

I have found the original Amiga Magazine photo from historyfiles.org:

I dont think so somehow...

http://www.astbury.leeds.ac.uk/People/Harris.htm

the chemistry books were a bit of a giveaway.

The link says Mark Harris from Leeds University...

I think it's in here somewhere...

picture of complete stranger removed...

HOLY HELL!!!!

Where the hell did they get this? http://www.pbase.com/chiefty/image/23383219

That be me fallin asleep against the wall at a LAN. That was like 5 years ago....

I like to reread my collection of Amiga mags (going back to 1989), and as it turns out, I was reading just the other evening the Amiga Format one where Marcus Dyson (editor at the time) came 'downunder' for some Aussie computer show, and went out on the town for some drinks with a certain Mark Sibly and Simon Armstrong.

Might just have to contravene copyright laws and scan that one in if no-one else has by the time I get home from work.

i can show you what Mark looks like... i've got a picture of him i'm willing to post...

only if the price is right though...

can we start the bidding at $100...

:)

I'll wait for LineOf7s free scan!

DarkHalf: That site is scarey!

...Is that the one with sibs bum and a mini coming out of it?

DarkHalf: That site is scarey!

I'm really curious how they got it though! The pic was posted in the Thermal-Reactor gallery (a LAN for cs) for only about 1 month 5 years ago. After that, I never saw that pic again. Thermal shut down about a year ago, so how they got that pic with me is beyond my comprehension. Specially since that was based out of illinois (and the LAN is uaually only 10-15 regulars).

Odd

This is Mark:

He's the one wearing the lovely red outfit.

..hes like flubber..

I thought he was the one touching his groin... :/

Mark Sibly is eighteen feet tall, and can fire nuclear explosions from his eyes.

viz a viz the scanning of Amiga Format:

Peeps, I'm sick as a dog. I'm going to bed. I'll try again tomorrow night - promise.

PS: Why is it people are quite comfortable describing themselves as "sick as a dog", but no-one seems particularly enthused to be described as a "sick puppy"?

po: Your pic has gone.

LineOf7s: maybe if a nice young lady said your were a "sick puppy" and tucked you up in bed and smoothed your hair and made you soup you'd like it?

I think this topic has become disrespectful and should be locked.

.

Spinal Tap.

mark sibly is metal gear?

Damn yo, I recognize those pictures from a few years ago.

Specially since that was based out of illinois (and the LAN is uaually only 10-15 regulars).

Where in illinois, Dark Half?

Joliet

Okay, I promised I'd have a bit of a scanfest, and I have. I've dragged myself from my sickbed to do this much, so I'll have to do the entire article next time (if anyone's interested), but in the meantime:

From the hallowed pages of Amiga Format Issue 51, from October 1993, here we have Mr Mark Sibly and Mr Simon Armstrong, respectively.

They were taken from the following (somewhat larger and more informative) scans:
http://images.lineof7s.2ya.com/siblyscan2.bmp
http://images.lineof7s.2ya.com/armscan1.bmp

Bow down and pay homage.

Awwwww.

is that real hair on armstrong? :-)

At a mustache and a pirate hat @ simon and you've captain Hook!

I think Mark must be about 12 there... I wouldn't have recognised him!

Hey, isn't that bottom pic Ross Noble? :P

Welcome to the Blitz Files....
What does Mark Sibly look like?
Max Mulder and Dana Blitzy will investigate that for the Federal Blitz Intelligence (FBI). They are suspecting that he may look like something nobody can belleve. Noone has seen his face, so he could be anyone, or anything. Maybe he's the trodon, one of the more intelligent dinosaur species. Maybe he's not even an earthling. Could he be an alien?

The truth is out there.....

mark sibly is metal gear?

Exactly.

Metal Gear MARK, one of the earliest versions. To accomodate his giant metal frame, Mark has a keyboard the size of a bus. He eats nuclear waste and can run at speeds approaching Mach 1. His favourite colour is green and his favourite animal is the water vole.

that's the question blitz programs ask each other :
" What does Mark Sibly look like? " - lol

You can laugh, but it's a really serious matter!
But I guess the answer lies out there in the twilight zone...

This picture have been postet repeatedly through the years on similiar threads:

As the filename states I guess....

I had a mullet until I joined the Guard... grew up... got married... and have finally receeded to my inner teenager!

Who's Hans Butler???

Hans Butler, Kurt Butler and Mark Sibly

...are listed as authors for Gloom (Amiga, 1996),
I guess the picture may be from the same time.
(...or a bit earlier judgeging by hairstyle)

Oh, right. Thanks wedoe. I wouldn't have known this since I never owned an Amiga. :)

big10p: Click on my first link to "larger more informative scans", and you'll find out just a lil more about Hans Butler. :o)

I'm confused... first I'm shown a picture of some priest or bishop or whatever and told it's Mark Sibly. Now you show a picture of a 12 year old and say it's Mark Sibly. Now you show that last picture saying one of them might be Mark Sibly! Arrrghhh!

John J.:
That "12-year old" comment from James was probably just a bit exaggerated..
I think that in the picture with the priestly dude, Mark Sibly is the one recieving some degree of sorts.. ie. "that other guy in the pic"...
I also think that that picture is the most recent one..
The others are from early 90's and late 90's, I think..

If I where Mark and people where posting pictures of me in my miss-spent youth I have to say i'd be in there pretty quick with an up-to-date "I never looked like that" photo! :)

It takes bravery and a sense of humour to look at those family photo albums stuck in the corner of the loft...

I remember hearing an interview once with Sylvester Stallone when he was promoting the movie 'Tango & Cash'. There was a scene where he was to walk away from the camera naked, and he was going to use a body double for it. He was convinced to do it himself, though, when he realised that people would associate the double's sub-standard butt for his.

These old pictures of Mark and Simon are sub-standard butts. An incentive to bare their own, perhaps? :o)

(Wow, that'll be interesting when someone quotes it out of context!)
