No they aren't.
Its up to the programmers of the teams to create "patches" which you will then download from XBox Live, that will make it compatible.

Thats because of the large hardware difference in the graphics hardware of XBox -> XBox 360

What, they couldn't have just implimented an xbox emulator on the xbox360? they couldn't have just included the old graphics hardware to be used only by xbox games? I mean, the friggin DS has a whole entire port for GB games.

I wouldn't quite class it as BS. They do have an Xbox emulator. That's how the 200+ games above can run. The emulation will be tweaked as time progresses and more games shall be playable.

They didn't include specific hardware to emulate the Xbox because this would have meant

A) including a full pentium 3 class CPU.
B) including nVidia graphics hardware.

I really hope I don't have to explain why that isn't feasible.

@DampeS8N: You can't play gameboy games on a DS, therefore the DS is officially lame. Why couldn't they have included old gameboy hardware in there as well as Gameboy Advance? Also, I tried to play my old SNES games on it and found that the cartridges were bigger than the DS itself. What a load of crap! Those Nintendo people are totally retarded, why do people buy this crap?

In other news, my Dreamcast won't play Saturn games, Megadrive games or Master System games. WTF?!!1!? That's like totally retarded.

And it did reeaaally well.

The Dreamcast only lost out due to bad timing and lacklustre marketing.

Many people still regard it as a top console. Ahead-of-its-time graphics, a good line-up of games and wasn't too expensive either. It easily beats a PSX in terms of graphical quality and ease of game development. Sony, however, had more money to throw around than Sega did.

It's the old Betamax / VHS thing all over again.

I never compared Dreamcast to PSX, because Dreamcast was SUPPOSED to be next gen. That's completely unfair. Saturn was the comparison to PSX. Dreamcast is the comparison to PS2. And really, Dreamcast died before PS2 hit the markets - they should have had it cornered by the time PS2 came out. Excuses aside, I'd call that a flop! Just like the Saturn was...

Last two generations have seen three consoles released with roughly a year between them... and the first one dies. Now with Sega out of the picture, it will be much more interesting to see which one that will be this time around ;]
