Latest nvidia driver problematic
Miscellaneous Forums/General Discussion/Latest nvidia driver problematic
I've been installing my new computer, and found that the latest nvidia driver 81.85 was bugging in BlitzMax and Animation Master. Every second or so there would be a couple of frames delay in the playback. So if you've got an older driver, don't upgrade yet.
Installed the version that came with the machine 77.77, and now everything runs smooth.
Interestingly I ran Cinebench with both drivers, and the OpenGL hw speed was around 3000 for both (a little slower with 77.77).

Yeah I agree this driver is ass!
lol for five minutes i've start the download of this drivers
now canceled
thx
Cant say I also havent had my fair share of graphical glitches with the latest drivers on my 6800 GT here, only reason I'm keeping them is due to the fact they be the only (well, and the two beta's before it) recent drivers that dont have often occuring brief pauses in my GPU-intensitive video games.
Why on Earth did I get a GeForce 6600?
I have a 6600 and no problems in any games I've tried yet. There are some new drivers out too if your interested :)
Why on Earth didn't you wait and get the recent 6600 with the 50MHz faster core and GDDR2 memory ;)
I've got 81.87 installed. No problems here. Can't remember the last time I did have a problem with an nVidia graphics driver (chipset drivers are another matter).
Nobody was kind enough to tell me that was coming out? ;]
Why didn't you sell a kidney and get a 7800GTX?
kidding :D
I saw a 6600 in action when all I had was a 5900XT. I was duly impressed. I nearly got one straight away but then things happened and I couldn't afford it. All of a sudden one of my creditors makes a huge error of omission and I can afford all new shiny stuff.
I was all set to get either a 6600, TFT and low latency DDR or a 6800, TFT and cheap DDR. I went with a 7800GTX, low latency DDR and no TFT (stuck with my Iiyama CRT). Think I made the right choice.
You may have notice that at no point did I consider ATI. The thought of it makes me poorly.
