Installing ubuntu...noob help pls

I'm trying to install ubunto on my new machine AMD64. I put in the cd, get the startup screen and hit entere. It starts listing a number of devices and then seems to just stop. I gave it a few minutes, but nothing happened. I'm guessing it is missing a driver for some hardware (most likely the s-ata raid controler). Anyone know how to get around this?

All the instructions I've found on installing it, assume that it gets past this without any trouble. :(

Think I figured it out, did some guessing on what options to set or disable and it seemed to work. Is now installing.
