No more BMax Updates, No more Newsletter
Miscellaneous Forums/General Discussion/No more BMax Updates, No more Newsletter
You've heard it folks. Looks like the BlitzTeam went awol.
Sucks that I got into blitzmax when I just noticed the last Newsletter was from MARCH (8 months ago!?!?!?)
They also stopped doing updates.. Seems to me that they stopped caring all together. Please someone prove me wrong so I can sleep well tonight! I would hate to be part of something that is dead.
Um, Marks busy with the GUI- and he does ost on occasion.
Next Max update will probrably be on GUI release.
Mark has done work on blitz in some form or other for over 15 years, is that not proof enough that he hasn't abandoned it?
If Mark doesn't post here and tell us whats happening, well, well I will just have to leave the Blitz Community.
DON'T TRY AND STOP ME.
Anyone that wants to leave: the door's not locked. Bye! :P
OK
I just want to know what the heck is going on and I appreciate your response. I dont need a reply from Mark, but now I must know is this Blitz a project by just one person named Mark? Is that the only person who works on all the Blitz projects? I would appreciate someone clarifying this because I dont think this project is small enough for just one person.

Well according to BlitzSupport in one of the BMax threads....the GUI mod *is* done....they're just waiting on the testers to finish reporting any more problems.
I have never complaint before.. but now i am starting to be little bit sad... I cant understand why we dont get any news or status on the GUI or MAX3D... Just some screenshots or something just for knowing there is something worth waiting for... When i look around on other products they all got SDKs and shader and stuff.. I really dont want to change product.. The only good thing this have been to me is that i picked c++ again :)
Alienforce the sad.
What Neuro said.
Also,
this is Mark's most recent worklog.
blitz IS an SDK, fool. :)

Actually, I believe Simon (Skidracer) is also working on it (certainly on some of the modules), not sure about anyone else though.
You should be careful what you wish for.
I dont have BlitzMax, but I understand it must be rather frustrating not getting an update for such a long time, after just being released (I have B+ though). Mark has a lot to do, said in that worklog. It would be nice just to get a small newsletter saying "GUI mod is coming good, 3D is getting there..." blah blah
I'm still anxiously awaiting clarification of the biscuit situation!

That's probably to much typing for them. :D

That issue is from March? :S

Since when did you get another eye, twoeyedpete?

Until now I did not realize that BlitzMax is programmed by one person (Mark) with the help of others. That being said I choose to back off and not throw up in arms any sort of frustration or grief due to lack of updates and newsletters.
I would think about hiring a team if I were him, and jacking up the cost of BMax, etc to offset the costs. But that's just me. :p I'm sure others would say "no way jose!" - but I'm a business man and I think that its more important for business survival than customer satisfaction, dont take that the wrong way folks because we all know that business survival is dependant on customer satisfaction.
All in all, I just dont think that Blitz is small enough for one person! but hey, that's just me. Of course I have no idea how many hands / people are actually in th project, so excuse me if I am coming off too presumptious..
All the best,
Matt
there was a biscuit situation?! hope nobody got hurt XD
there was a biscuit situation?
Yep, Apparently it was soggy so they wanted to know who did it.
BlitzMax is very much alive. It's undergoing some changes (that can't be syncmodded in) and getting a GUI.
Mark and Skidracer both work on BlitzMax.
The Newsletter is resting.
Did I miss anything?
I'm locking this thread cos it's run it's course and questions have been answered (also Shagwana needs a day off :).
