Help With Cancer Research

Hi

Everyone who know about S.E.T.I and there download software to help in finding E.T then heres the Cancer Research verion that help's with the search for molecules that may be beneficial in the treatment of this often fatal disease.

Yeah this is way more important than SETI at the moment.

Aliens could have cure, but I take your point.

good cause, my mom is recovering from Cancer. I do the SETI one, but im switching the two computers that run SETI to this.

... I would recommend that you turn off your computer when not in use. Might also save the planet. But as far as screen-savers go - I can't knock the aspirations of this one.

Haven't you heard? They've already found a cure for almost all cancers. Several months ago, if I'm not mistaken.

Hmm, and if you don't want to do it for the cause do it to win, maybe we could start a folding team at blitz!

@Grey Alien, indeed they could if only we could find them and they would share there findings. athough this most likey would not happen in my lifetime.

@Falelorn, good to hear your mon in recovering. many of my family members did not :(

@WolRon, As far as im aware they have found one for one type of breast cancer. i could be wrong though.

My partner is a scientific journalist and she is constantly writing about stuff like cancer cures. Some new nanotechnology sends molecules to the cancer then they use a magnetic field to destory it, cool or what. Also they are finding out that some cancers are actually caused by bacteria which is interesting.

I heard that they found a virus that only attacks cancerous cells...

Sounds good, I will check this out.

I've been participating in a similar project called Folding@Home for some time

It's not only cancer-oriented, its goal is to research protein folding in general, to achieve several objectives, such as curing cancer, Alzheimer, mad cow disease, etc

Each "work unit" you do may belong to any of the dozens of projects. I think it's interesting too.
I hope these kind of things really work someday
