Just saw it... very first game shown on Cinematech. Dunno if this is the same episode aerial antics is on, but still kinda trippy nonetheless.
Just thought I'd mention it :)
nice :) is it your game?
nope... its sybixus's game.

It also appeared in a PC magazine this month along with another Blitz game - Love Chess. It was either PC Zone or PC Format.
Congratulations, Sybixsus/Gabriel!
Yeah, Great job! I was so stoked when I found out about Aerial Antics ... actually in was April Fools day so I thought it was a joke ... but then I got to see it myself and was blown away ;) Sybixsus deserves it ... he's been cranking away for a while now and pushing out some awesome stuff.
i wanna be on tv *pouts*
Seriously though, how did this come about? Did you have a press release, or do gaming journalists find your games by just trolling the internet for downloads?
Oh cool, thanks for letting me know. I'll have to keep an eye on the web stats to see if I get a download spike.

It's hard to say, as I often don't hear about it until after it's happened. I did issue a press release for Bowling Babes, but that was back in February, so I'm not sure if that's how they found it. The press release did get picked up very well though, with sites like GameSpot and IGN carrying it, so it's the easiest of my games to find.
I think they found our game through the IGF ... they never contacted us ... they tracked the game down and decided to show it themselves.
Congratulations
Did you put the press release on your web site or did you email it off to some companies??

My press releases are sent to around a thousand editors. There's no guarantee they'll read them, of course.
How's the micro pricing going?
We're not doing micro pricing, just a straightforward price change to see how it affects sales. There's been an initial rush of sales in the four or five days since the price changed, but I'll be interested to see how it pans out in the medium term.
Gabriel, does your software submitting system allow people to send out the press releases?
The system that you advertised sends the details of games to 400 sites. If your system also included sending the press releases it would be cooler? no?
The software submission scheme does not currently include any press release distribution. We considered that, but decided it wasn't the right thing to do. I do enjoy writing press releases, and it *could* complement the service well. There are two major disadvantages to doing it though :
1) The price would have to go up quite considerably. We were really hoping to aim the software submission at people who don't have a lot of money to spend. Having it as an optional extra is ok, but might put people off of the "cheaper" option.
2) When you submit a game or app to a download site, there's a good chance of it being listed. Sometimes it will be refused, but if you've followed the rules and your software matches their requirements, it's usually listed. In other words, I can pretty much guarantee impressive results for your $29.95.
With press releases, there are no guarantees about coverage. If I send a press release to 1,000 editors, We might find that fifty of them pick it up and run with it. On the other hand, we might find that only one does. We can't make people cover your press release if they're not interested. If people understand this, all is fine, but we felt that there was a good chance people would be disappointed if their games weren't interesting the editors. So for now, we'd rather focus on offering a service we know won't disappoint anyone.
@slenkar, if you want to know about press releases then please drop me a note, we've indiegamebusiness.com coming on line soon and a subscription based press release service is one of the services to be offered.
Phil, sorry to hijack.
Gab, I see, the results of press releases are more 'varied' and some people will complain.
Ok path Ill check it out.
