Smooth Scrolling in Emulators

Miscellaneous Forums/General Discussion/Smooth Scrolling in Emulators

I have found that I can never get smooth scrolling in C64 (CCS64/Vice) or Amiga Emulators (winUAE) whether I'm in full screen or windowed mode. Doubtless this is because my graphics adapter is not running at 50Hz for Pal and 60Hz for NTSC. Has anyone actully succeeded in getting really smooth scrolling from those emulators which is on par with the original machines? I use Turrican II as a reference game as its scrolling was perfect. For example I have set my desktop refresh to 100Hz (as it won't do 50Hz) and run WinUAE and changed to 100Hz in the Display tab but it keeps resetting to "Default" whereas if I select 85Hz it keeps it. Any ideas?

I've managed to shunt WinUAE into 100Hz mode. It also manages 50Hz mode, though I'm not sure my monitor's electronics are entirely comfortable doing that.

720x576 at 50Hz does give an extrmely authentic Amiga environment, but it does hurt my eyes with the flickering :) 100Hz is much easier on the eye.

wow thanks Tim: powerstrip 3 hey?
Thanks Vinyl, guess I'll keep trying.
