lucky me, pentium 3 for 100 quid

Hi all

I just got a pentium 3,1GHz with 256mb ram and 20gig harddrive, all for 100 quid. is this a good bargin? it was a complete system, monitor inc.. the only problem was that the gfx was on board. but not a problem i stuck my agp ati 9550 gfx in and all well. anyways beats my amd duron 1.3GHz

what bargins have you came across? ho yea i got a graphics tablet for 22 quid :)

I once bought 256mb cf-card for a price of 128mb... shop fumble which I didn't care to correct. :)

You're lucky for getting a complete PC set at the price, it's nice.

Not bad... last night my P3 500 died, 512ram, 40gb hard disk, 64mb card... bought it the day the P3 was released it ran almost every day as a server since then. Maybe off for 10 days total.

Not sure how much a quid is in Canadian, but bought a p3 700, 384ram, 2x36 Hard Drives for 20 bucks. no monitor, no keyboard/mouse but it did have a 56kb modem !!!! and no NIC lol

I gave away my P3 system (450MHz, 256ram, 10GB hd, rage128, w/17" crt.) I figured I'd rather do something for charity than take the pittance I was going to get for it.

I paid about £950 for my latest upgrade which was really really..!! um. hang on.

Wasn't really great value at all.

I once bought a pallet of software at an auction. There was a case full of PC emulator software for Mac, complete with Windows 98 licenses. I paid £20 for the entire pallet and made £600 on the emulators alone in 5 weeks.

At the same auction, a friend of mine bought a pallet of ultrasmall industrial 486 PC's(we were planning to use them as nodes in a linux cluster), but when we opened them, they had been recently professionally upgraded to P3(using SBC's) with a hefty amount of memory and brand-new harddrives. The company had propably folded a few months after they upgraded these systems... He paid £100 for the pallet and sold them over the course of a few months for £1700.

a P1 133 that doesn't boot
a P2 300 that seems to be running fine now.
and a Sony VIAO P3 800 that runs beautifully.

I paid over $2000 for my AMD Athlon, 850mHz, 28GB HD, Radeon 7200, 256MB RAM. >:(

A local nonprofit music organization. I found them through freemarketri.org (I was living in Rhode Island until a few months ago.) There are such freemarket groups for a lot of areas; you just post what you are giving away and then a bunch of people reply to say they'd like it, usually along with a blurb about why they're the most deserving of your gift. I just gave it to the first guy who replied, who happened to be contacting me on behalf of a nonprofit group; as I recall, they needed a computer for bookkeeping purposes.
