Forum Post Times

I often think that because you can't easily see the country of origin of Blitz Forum posters, you can't guess what time of day it is for them. It would be nice to have the time of day relative to them shown on the post as well.

Then you could know, aha ... they're posting at 7am in the morning, or at 8:30 (just before work on the laptop or whatever), or mid day (either work at home or are being naughty and wasting time whilst on work's PC).

Also, aha ... evening or really late i.e. AM sometime, come on we've all been there - and thus if the posts are a bit erratic (like this one) you know is cos it was made really late or if it was say 10-12pm, there's a fair chance that an over18 or over21 year on in U.K. and U.S. respectively is drunk and thus their post may not truly represent their opinion on the matter ;-)

See ... normal humans can see straight away the mental state of the person they were talking to and if they were drunk or tired or whatever you can tell, but not via a forum or chat post at all. Only with voice or voice + video can you tell. So maybe you should cut someone slack sometimes ... that's my new realisation.

Time of day relative to them - You'd have to have *community* forums for that - not much community around here - more a sterile work lab.

On a somewhat related note, I wish people would post times they mention (like when trying to schedule some sort of get-together via the forums) in GMT time (aka UTC time these days). The vast majority of people here have set themselves up on forums before, or setup their time and date settings, and so know how their local time differs from GMT - in my case, it's +10 hours.

It would certainly be easier to calculate when something's happening than to try to find out exactly what time the different time zones across the British Isles, Europe and the US equate to.

Just thought I'd mention that, for what it's worth. :o)

It's GMT 01:38 now. Just got some good code done and a nice updated to do list with priorities so I can sleep properly now...
