Any news on the new site?

Miscellaneous Forums/General Discussion/Any news on the new site?

"Mark Sibly" posted not so long ago that we may be moving or having a new site, etc.

Any news on this? Will it involve a new Off Topic forum?

Personally, I would like to see a new, separate, Off-Topic section.

I find it against the original spirit of Blitz that a Blitzer can post that it is their birthday, etc and the thread gets deleted.

Considering we were officially told by "Mark Sibly" that there *may* be changes soon to the site, is there a way forward on this?

I'm all in favour of blocking controversial threads (war/religion, etc) - but birthday ones and personal ones relating to Blitzers is a bit overkill.

I'd recommend a resolution to this - in the spirit of Blitz - if anyone actually remembers that.

When did Mark say we would be getting a new site? What would be the point of that, I wonder?

Yeh, I can't find the thread - me and a few people replied in it - I think "ENAY" was one of them. He mentioned something about gaming stuff on the site.

Here it is:

I am strongly tempted to move the site to BRL HQ here in NZ. The only thing really holding me back is the outrageous cost of bandwidth here, but if I can find some 'off shore' file hosting capacity this may be manageable.

Doing this would not only make it easier for us to find and fix site problems, but to also do some cool experimental stuff like game servers etc.

Oh yeah, I did read that at the time - my memory's going. :P

He doesn't actually mention Off Topic - but he may have forgotten.

'BRL HQ here in NZ...'

Are you a NZ'er Puki?

Nope, I am from UK.

That was a quote from Mark, who's a kiwi in a pink puppydog suit.

I read a Hyper magazine article years ago saying Mark was from NZ. And they said Gloom was a kiwi game. I wrote in and told them they were wrong. They didn't publish my letter. >_<

I think Mark was talking about moving the site, not changing it.

He did mention ideas for improvements, but I don't see anything resembling ideas on the web pages/forums per se.

Whatever happens.. please DON'T delete old forum posts. I still go back and use stuff from years ago in here! I don't really want to archive the entire forums (more likely - if i tried, my IP would be banned), so it's really useful having that material online. :)
