Real Crafter - any opinions on it?

It looks quite good. I am only interested in using it for single player stuff which, apparantly (according to their IRC channel) can be done - although, they were hardly forthcoming with information.

I'm concerned at the lack of screen shots.

Anybody tried it - any good? Any indication it will easily do single player stuff?

Singleplayer games CAN be done. However you'll need the server AND the client run on the same pc for that. Realm Crafter is supposed to be a "engine" for MMORPGs.

If it doesn't sell very well in its current form, then I'd buy a modified version for single-player stuff.

Realm Crafter is very good, and SolStar Games is updating it alot. %55 bucks for Engine + tools (at least right now) is a deal with free updates.

Zero programming skills are needed
It comes with Terrain, Rock, Tree, Dungeon, etc editors
Hundreds of Models, Textures (more coming)
Lots of tutorials and documentation out and more coming

It's very similar to CKOB's MMORPGCE(this project disappeared while ago) in some aspects, once it opened the source for download but I missed it.

Right, all the people who have it I want you to test it for single-player compatability. Forget any multiplayer stuff you are planning on - which, quite frankly, you'll probably never finish. Just do single-player stuff (coz that is what I want it for).

I dont think single player is possible because your not allowed to distribute the server.

You could easily build a Morrowind Style game (with zones) with it. but you would have to run the server then the client (on same machine works)..

With some advanced scripting you could have groups of NPCs with you... but serious scripting would be needed.. plus Professional is my guess.



its not even close to MMORPGCE I have MMORPGCE, and Another Life.. This has tools, alot easier customization, 100's of models that are nice.

MMORPGCE dissapeared because Rottbott (who coded most of MMORPGCE according to the code comments) went to work with SolStar Games on Realm Crafter.

I sold the rights to MMORPGCE to solstar they wrote their own system after tossing the old code out. As I said you cannot distribute the server as it states in the EULA. I work for solstar now and will have Dragon the owner stop in and answer your questions.

They were suppose to have a downloadable version (or testing) a few weeks ago... still no luck... :(

This looks nice, don't know if it supports Japanese(or UTF-8), really consider giving it a try.

sven made ultra low poly version for the developers of Realmcrafter, and the developers have rights to sell them, or give them away. Whatever they want. his "free" buildings arent there at all.
