Had Adventure Maker for a long time and now it supports PSP!

No.. it supports "portable gaming systems". Another way of saying this - reading that page, is "it supports 16:9 ratio images in adventure games". That's all.

Now - if PSP ran WindowsXP, then the suggestion it worked on a PSP would be correct. Unfortunately - that image is a mock-up.

"portable gaming systems".
Its a licensed platform. What would you expect it to say? JUst one of the many products out there for PSP development.

Right. I re-read the page. It doesn't mention PSP anywhere. Or Sony. Or licensing. What it DOES say, is that by selecting Portable, you can make 16:9 games - which you can then distribute as ZIP files.

And run on what?

I don't find it saying anywhere that you can, or giving instructions on how to, produce games for PSP. It seems it's simply making games which - if the "portable games system" supports Windows (think WindowsCE on hand-helds) - then they'll play at the correct resolution...

If I'm wrong, I'd be happy to know - but I don't see it mention PSP developing licensing anywhere. It uses a picture of a PSP and says "portable gaming systems - LIKE the one shown right". Sounds like getting your hopes up, as in the actualy body of the text it doesn't even remotely suggest gaming on the PSP is possible?

Please - show me the error of my ways. It would be a great tool! :)

Adventure maker for PSP is already out in Japan. Check it out at http://www.play-asia.com.

Also, if you are looking into developing for the psp you should check out LUA on the psp. I think a guy that goes by Shine created a LUA script player for the psp. It's pretty cool to create small games and applications. It comes with source for snake and a couple other games.

Yeah - but Japan is running version 1.0 of the Bios. Here in Australia we're running 1.2 and 1.5 and we have to run (illegal) hacks to back-compat it to run 1.0 BIOS software (homebrew stuff). The next batch of PSPs won't downgrade to 1.0 BIOS with the exception of certain titles keyed into the chip (earlier release stuff that came out before the non-back-compat). Which leaves us here in most western countries (not Japan) unable to run the software legally.

Unless they have a third-party licensing agreement with Sony which would "enable" their software so you could run it legally. But I read and read that page and didn't find one.

Actually, PSP 2.0 homebrew has been available for almost a month now:

I'm waiting for PSP specialbrew.

Can I use PG Tips?

Yeah - but Japan is running version 1.0 of the Bios.

All recent games over there require them to update their systems to 2.0 if they ever wish to play them though.

Anyhow, as for the Adventure maker in JP, I'd assume you'd require the UMD to load up the game from inside of it.
