I was just playing the original "Alone in the Dark" and then I thought: Can you have a prerendered/predrawn background with 3d meshes on top of it in blitz? I mean, I know I can create a surface with texture, but what of high texture size?
Can I somehow load 640x480 picture in blitz and then display it as a backgrounds?
Just draw your bitmap images before calling Renderworld; similarly, you can draw over the 3D stuff by doing 2D work between Renderworld and Flip. There is a performance hit for mixing 2D and 3D like this on some cards.
or maybe even
Blitz-Backdrop if you own 3DSMax...might make things easier for you ;-)

Lee.

Dude, this demo is great!
And it also answers my question about drawing pre-rendered stuff on top of the character!
Unfortunately, I just asked this question out of interest, so it's really unlikely that I will start a project based on this.
Still, great demo!
