Anyone know whats the status of the BlitzNews? still at the same old issue... no updates for months.
BlitzNews
Miscellaneous Forums/General Discussion/BlitzNews Yeah. the status of BlitzNews: Old.
We need an online magazine for blitz... published monthly... just like blitznews was... except user created and contributed to.
Gonna give this some thought as I was thinking of doing it before. But now that the official newsletter is null and void I thinking it might be more viable.

Why not ask BRL if you can do the official newsletter? If you're up to the job (no offence :) I'm sure BRL wouldn't mind farming it out to someone else. :)
Why don't we produce our own and stick a link up on here somewhere.
I second the motion.
Seriously though, I think we should make some sort of community newsletter. We will need "reporters" to gather interesting information for articles, etc. There will also need to be an "editor" who accepts and rejects articles, and puts everything together. It definitely won't be easy. Possibly, a web-site could be made where anyone can submit articles, which get stored in a "pending area". For example, you might submit your game if you want it to be featured. The editor then picks out articles for each issue (for example, he just might choose your game if it's worthy enough, along with many other interesting articles). This way is would be a lot easier for the editor, encouraging articles from all sources.

Sounds like a job for Indiegamebusiness.com :D
I think the editor should be open to bribes. :P
A fairly strait forward phpnuke install could actually be just the ticket. I dont mind hosting that.
I don't mind either. Here's a link to a phpnuke install I just put up:
Click here -> http://alsbonsai.com/blitznewsletter (under construction at the time of writing)
Everyone is welcome to sign up!
I'm working on adding topics/categories, creating logos/images/icons, etc.

I notice that Indiegamebusiness.com needs a logon, hmm, what's in there Aliens? Spaceships, or robotic ex. presidents?
I'll be needing moderators for my phpnuke newsletter, also (hint hint) :).
hey... leave em alone... i'd rather have the 3D module as opposed to not having it and getting some news about it being delayed in favor of the newsletter...
... surely, in this case, no news is good news.
you know that mark and company are hard at work on the thing...
... or on vacation in acapulco.

is there an ETA (as much as it possible with programming ;-)) on the Max 3D module?
No, not a single hint really!
Can't be the news letter (whatever one of those was) holding it up either! ;O)
I expect we'll get a nice obsequious marketing based reply once it's awake! We just don't know how lucky we are, so we'll no doubt have it explained at us! ;O)
That or a mysteriously locked thread, probably! ;O)
Anyway, more power to an independant and unbiased blitz users news thingy. Good idea.

Grey Alien : latest ETA : next year
There should be a "writers of the official Blitz newsletter democratic election". Everybody can become a candidate. A reasonable number of Writers will then release the news on a monthly base. Writers should not be allowed to turn articles into ads for their products.
Not shure if this would last a long time. Remember all those weekly things (eg. Blitzer of the week), they come and go.
We could try it.

Who else works at BRL other than Mark?
I've always been curious about this...

Actually, having re thought this, we don't really need a news letter; it's not like there's a whole lot of anything you could actually classify as new(s).
An annual progress report would easily be adequate.

Maybe even bi-annual.
I'm thinking that the only real resource which might get used is a 'blitzforge' site. I'd love my project to go on there.
I also love trawling through other people's code (so long as it's GPL'd!).

I own www.blitzresource.com, and I'm looking for some people to help me organize it. It'd be kinda like a huge resource for Blitzers, a lot like BlitzCoder, but then again, very different.
