I wonder how this affects the release-date of DukeNukemForever! ;O)

Who's acquired who, now??? :P

Uh?

Never heard of either of them, is all. :)

You will hear a lot about AGEIA in the very near future, so better be prepared. Like when 3D cards (GPUs) were really cool and new thing when VooDoos came some 7-8 years ago, physics processors are the nex big step making gaming better and faster without any need for fast CPU. And AGIEA happens to be the first commercial consumer level PPU, soon selling in a shop near you.

huh... wha... uuuh...

who did what to whom...

what day is it... where am i...

where's my coffee...

seriously... you guys have never heard of Ageia or Megon...

--Mike

Meqon is a really good physics engine.

So... ageia aquired them.
Meh.

Although, this probably means higher prices if it all goes into one product, which sucks.
Not that I was ever going to use them, though...

I really hope that in a further step PPUs could also be addressed generally and not only by Ageia's physicsengine. By the way is there still any development with ODE going on? I haven't seen a lot of updates there the last time...

Greetings,

taumel

I really hope that they develop somekind of open protocol between PPU and software so we wont see couple years of competition between protocols and fancy libraries for each and every PPU.

They have a deal where if you enable features for their processor, you can use Mequon in your project for free!

@Mustang

Will the new Futuremark also incorporate a test for PPUs then?
I think it's likely if PPUs will be a success that you go this route...

Classified info at this point... :)

Okay thanks! ;O)

Hmm so maybe you will introduce it with a big AHA like it was when you were using Ipion's engine... :O)

That's a "yes", then. :P
