What game style do you have an interest in making? By this, I mean sci-fi, fantasy, etc.

Leon Brown Creations

classic/retro platformgames .. it may be scrolling or page-per-page.

Style would be some forgotton place around the globe.. Inca, some hidden temple in India etc.
So: modern times, somewhere at the globe where time stood still..

sci-fi easier to make content for

All of them ...

CS_TBL: Check out Iron Fist in my sig, it's a classic kung fu platform game set in a jungle (WIP tho')

I like Sci-Fi shooters but prefer RPGs to be Fantasy. I am making a puzzle game as they seem to sell best, but also have a Vertical scrolling shoot 'em up in the pipeline just for fun.

Lots.

Turn based above all, realistic and sci fi (doesnt matter much), arcade action puzzle logic, all that simple stuff thats easy and cool to make.

Its very hard to pick any, because there are so many combinations of styles and genres and the way styles are implemented, i dont think its possible to answer.

Fantasy.

A series of SF games set in the same (original) universe. At the same time, smaller, stand-alone games, mostly historical wargame-type, but some more abstract.

"Where Time Stood Still" that brings memories, anyone remember this game for the spectrum 128K?

I am not so much inspired by genre of game as I am problem solving. I'll typically write games that have 1 or 2 hurdles for me to jump over in achieving them. I wrote Waterworld because of a forum thread about making good looking water, I wrote Paradise Island as a special effects sand box, and i've just knocked up a car racing game initially because I wanted to play with some engine backfire sounds but ultimately because I wanted to play with constant rate mathematics under delta timing.

If I actually wrote games because I wanted to make a game then i'm not sure the hobby would even interest me. It might also be why I find it difficult to finish the things off.

This MSX-game I played a lot.. plays around India and China..

one of the best games I know on MSX2

Fantasy at the moment.

Inspiration for game style comes mainly from Dark Omen.

My favourite game of all time.

tactical espionage action games - i'm too obsessed with them for my own good!

I agree with Jeremy... I'm interested in all of them.

Almost all , except for first person shooters and stupid sports games.

I love playing FPS but writing one isn't on my agenda right now.

Stupid sports games... I'd like to play a stupid sport game, something like cheese olympics or similar?!

I'm with Enay (apart from the cheese olympics)... I'd love there to be a decent first person shooter though, halflife was pretty good, but something with more story and adventuring and less shooting would be great!

Right now its fantasy, but later in the series as the world progresses, Guns and even Mechs will appear

I aim to show technological progression in fantasy elements such as Melee weapons and Armour and Magic alongside this though

The one thing I dislike in games is a modern setting, too close to the real world

Given I am currently working on a gauntlet style game/remake I would say I have an interest in making quick/easy to play arcade games - although doesn't matter to me whether sci fi or fantasy. I would never be interested in making a puzzle game - I don't enjoy playing them. Anything that requires a lot of different non-reusable media, complicated interfaces that are both a pain to learn how to play and / or require a lot of code I am not interested in making (as I'd never have a chance to complete it nor could I make it fun).

I am interested in making games of complexity equal to or greater than space invaders and less than or equal to ancient art of war (old dos game) as I know I have a chance of finishing these.

Themes that interest me: sci fi aliens style corridor shooters, fantasy dungeon hacks with lots of flashy particle effects - none of these hugely convoluted but overly predictable story lines.

Also, I am not interested in making long games. If a game requires more than 30 minutes to see most of what it has to offer then I am not interested.

Note that my opinion is probably not that of a 'typical' gamer because I am not really a gamer....anymore.

I don't know if I'm so much a games player as I am an artistc person who likes creating stuff. I like creating things in my own style and usually that means it has to be visually appealing, subtle, with attention to detail and quite a bit of technical achievement. I definitely steer away from dark heavy negative violent stuff even in terms of color scheme as well as what the game focusses on. I try to build spiritual/metaphysical concepts into things since that's one of my big interests in life, and to do something that maybe other people haven't thought of doing. I don't like nor want to make any FPS game or other such destructive endeavor.

turn based sci fi 4X

Games like MGS, but theres alot of development time behind one, so i didnt bother.

Platformers/space shooters/racers of any kind- Anything with competition- NOT including FPS. If i hear another idea for an FPS, my head a 'splode.

I like sci fi, but quite realistic 'dirty' looking sci fi. Mainly though I love anything with lush big terrains. I love first person games - note I didn't say FPS, because I get bored of shooting everything and not having to think. The game I'm making on and off is a hybrid FPS/RTS/RPG set on a series of islands.

I think this may just be a phase, but I've been thinking a lot about history-based games lately.

Normally though I mostly ruminate on RPGs and character-based puzzle games, all with a cartoon aesthetic.

I'm thinking more on lines of hybrid Fantasy Sci-Fi. The Final Fantasy 7+ series sorta went in that direction. I believe the theme of a 3D game should define the genre, not camera perspective. Considering in 3D you can manipulate the camera for any perspective: Top-Down, Side-Scroller, First Person, Isometric.

Any game with Ninjas in it. No matter how rediculous or out-of-place.

ROLE PLAYING GAME - traditional style D&D style.

My game style is anything that can not be easily classified as a particular kind of game style :D
