Having a bit of a time with people connecting to me through my router. Any ideas on how to have DirectPlay connect properly through a router? Will probably switch back over to BlitzPlay but I through this together real quick and it works great on the LAN so I figured what the heck. Anyway, I'm hanging out waiting to see if anyone can possibly join. Otherwise someone not blocked ... maybe could host ;)

You just need another A in your game title and then you can say you game is AAA.

LOL ...

In order for a router to act as a server you need too setup a virtual server. To connect to somebody else you need no configuration.

In the picture below you can see my config for my game.

I hope that helps.

As you are using DirectPlay you will need to specify UDP as your type, and of course the correct port and LAN IP of the server on your network. For simplicity it is easy to use the same port on both ends rather than re-routing data to a new port.

I don't seem to have that.

What options does your router give you J?

I think I made a mistake by turning on a filter for Nat redirection maybe?

Well I have port forwarding. I can issue ranges for certain IP's on the network. So I can forward the DirectPlay ports on the computer that will be hosting. However, I'll need to do more testing because ATM I still can't seem to get it to work. Everything on the LAN works fine but it doesn't seem to let people connect from the outside ... heck ealier I had it messed up so that I couldn't connect to someone who didn't even have a router.

Whew ... I finally got my router configured correctly ... I'm going to host a game for a while with my other computers in the game also. I want to see how many players it can support with the shadow system engaged. Please anyone feel free to join ... you will need to let it past your firewall!
