Buying max

Im thinking of getting myself a copy of blitz max.
Can someone answer the following:

If i buy max, can i download all the builds for pc,mac & linux or is each version sold separately? (as this is the most tempting thing about it).
Also, How far away is a standard 3d open gl library? As some seem to say max can do 3d some say it will &some say it cannot.

You can d/l them all.
BMax gives access to opengl so you can do 3d but theres no simple built in 3d engine yet.

You get all versions for the one price.

I reckon the 3D library is not a million miles away as there is already an early beta demo available, but don't buy Max on the assumption of a given release date - there's a lot of speculation on these boards but no-one will really know until BRL gives the official word- which is usually when something is released! (You can already use openGL quite simply with Max if you are this way inclined)
