I'm pretty sure this question has been raised before - many times, but I can't seem to find it, or remember what was said previously.
Is it legally acceptable to have the quake MD3 model file supported by your game engine?
I know that Carmack has said in the past that it's okay to support MD2 files as long as the loading code is not part of id's copyright and the model is not from quake etc.
I've seen a number of commercially available game engines - not from id software, that support MD2 and MD3.
But is it legal?
