old videocard Q

i have a pci-card with a "S3 vision 868" chip. Is this capable of hw-3d gfx under dx?

lik i just upgraded a pc from that, its not compatable with blitz (directx 7), u can get a good cheap card for blitzen from ebay for about £8 including packaging

oh, but check to see it works with directx 7 before u bid :)

jfk, we found that some old S3 video cards don't like 2Xmultiply blendmodes, same with a few other cards in and around the TNT/TNT2 generation.

Thats what we have found with marketvalue anyway.

thanks! I got this from the flee market, and my daughters old pc has no AGP slot (yeah, got to buy her a new one soonish, currently I try to save some money). Well, the card was manufactured in 1994 - likely to support nothing at all.

try a low level GeForce 2 card - power without the price.

you can get a PCI GeForce 2MX for about £30 these days.

Well I paid about $35 USD for mine (I bought one so I could use dual monitors a while back). I'm not sure how much £30 is in USD, but I'd guess it's somewhere around $50? In any case, if you have the option to, check Pricewatch.com.

Likewise I picked up a PCI Geforce 4 MX 440 for around AU$100.

In a shop they told me they don't sell PCI Graphicscards anymore. Maybe I have to search more intensively. Thanks a lot!
