Galactic Empire 0.6.0

I just released a demo of my game, Galactic Empire.

Its a free form, Empire game where you create an empire (duh!), then maintain its military and choose a side, Good or Bad.

This will be the only public demo of this game until 1.0.0 release UNLESS if you people want more :)

Features:
- fully functional GUI with most of Windows basic controls, made by me :)
- about 6 themes (or skins) for the GUI
- basic control over your empire (Laws, etc)
- you can research for your military
- you can purchase military units
- you can send spies to other empires
- you can ponder over intelligence of other empires
- AN AUTO UPDATES! (read below)
- some sounds

Planned:
- wars and battles (they are different)
- random events
- fully functional AI controlled empires
- faster saving/loading (currently pretty slow)
- improved themes
- graphics!

AUTO-UPDATER:
This game features an auto updater, that forces you to keep your copy of the game up to date! Upon starting the game, it checks the version with an HTTP file so you must disable your firewall or you will have to attempt to minimize the game and give it control to the internet.
Due to a bug in BlitzPlus (possibly the game), most of the time when minimizing/tabbing the game, it crashes, so please be careful.

I also would like to know from anyone who is using dialup, if it takes too long to check the version! Please notify me of this, if it does take too long, I will change it to only check once a day :)

Sorry, I forgot to change the version code in the first update, so you kept downloading the same version :o

But i released an update, this is fixed! and also I redid the saving/loading system so its alot faster.

despite the lack of response... I'm interested in this if for no other reason than it's the type of game I'm working on as well. :)

I get an error 'Bad version list' and it fails to install.

i am going to download it now... see how it turns out, may take a while (dial-up *gag*)

this is going faster than i thought it would, smaller file than expected

it says empire data file missing, ???. all it would let me do is change the backround and the colors of the gui stuff, i coulden't even start an empire.

Thats fixed in the latest version, just place a file named Empire.dat in the main folder and it will be fixed. Just a small error.

Looking at the screenshots I really didn't fancy downloading it. Is that what the game actually looks like, with all those windows all over the place? Or is that some sort of editor?
