Cartography Shop etc. - Two .x models?

Hello,

one demo for Cartography shop contains two .x models of a bedroom, one with the textured model, the other a model with only the lightmap applied.

How do I load/blend these two models in Blitz to display one lightmapped and textured bedroom?

I don't know where it is just now but there is some code floating about for CShop X exports and lightmaps. Try www.leadwerks.com or the official CShop forum for help they'll know.

Josh is not about for a couple of weeks so you're probably not best waiting for him to tell you.

Which version of CShop do you use btw?

can Cshop4 export to b3d?? Does it export lightmaps with file or seperately? I'm trying to decide between Cshop 4 and Quill3d.

Not the version I have. 4.1 was supposed to be out a while back, but I haven't heard anything, and now Josh is away, like IPete2 said.

If I were you, I wouldn't buy CShop until 4.1 comes along because the whole 4.x release has been done extremely badly in my opinion. CSG was pulled out because Josh couldn't get it working, and we're probably still waiting for bugs in the CSG to be fixed so that 4.1 can be released. I haven't seen any sign of an importer for CSM 4 files, and there's no B3d export. Looking past all that, I made a test level to see how it was going, and there are problems with the UV mapping as well. Lots of areas of a very simple map just didn't line up any more, whereas they would have done in CS3.

If Josh can take care of all the problems, it would be a far better choice than Quill, in my opinion, but it's worth hanging on to see if he does.

I guess my question is more related specifically to the two .x model solution (rather than dealing with b3d exporters etc).

Can Blitz "superimpose" these two models to blend the lightmap and the texturemap?

Not really. But get hold of Decorator from Terrabit. That can merge 2 .x files for you :)

I don't think Blitz can, the 2 .x file export is just for DarkBasic but that means you are loading in 2 levels when you just want 1.

A better solution is to use the CSM loader for Blitz, or export to .x and use Gile[s] to lightmap and export to .b3d.

If one day Gile[s] was also a modelling program that would be great =) The way Fredborg supports the people who buy his product is second to none and Gile[s] is a very stable and reliable product, I'm sure he would be very good at making a modelling application.

Josh might want to look at a better form of copy protection for his software. CS4 is currently up for grabs in the newsgroups :(

You load the textures from the lightmap model as the second texture and load the UV coordinates of the lightmapped model as the 2nd set of UV coordinates for the full textured model.

Someone did release the beta 4.26 version on the cartshop forum for download, I think Josh might go ape when he gets back since this means anyone at all could download and crack it -.-

Josh=Thief, he take our money and go away when we ask to him when he go to fix his CS4 ! He selling his tool at 65$ and never give any supports to customers. Now he lost them and some Beta testers too !

Don't Buying the version 4.0 he not working ! You can't carving, hollow, ligthmap, etc, like what the features says !

If ppl let CS 4+ for dl in some Boards, it's only for help registered customers to have the good version of CS. (It's a Beta version, he working only if you own a valid serial and the Full version installed)

But Josh it's incompetent for giving to his community the right to have the good version for working ! Customers are not beggars.

I put the beta online, for 2 days on a weekend and after this I took the beta as the plugins offline.

It only works if you have a full CS4 installation you can put it in, otherwise it does exactly nothing than just crash.
It was just needed as Josh is slow like a slug and Rich too so both together means that a finished program needs 4-6 weeks until it is online -> inaceptable as there are people that PAYED for this program which HAS (according to the advertice) CSG operation.

It's bad enough that most of the advertise is a big lie (map import for example was never there and bsp export will never be there etc)

I'm quite sure, Josh will explode but thats his problem.
I did not share anything illegal, just something that was confirmed as "finished" and that should be online for nearly 2,5 months now.


@Shambler: I hope nobody cracks CS ... would be extremely wasted time *ggg*

We don't care what Josh think or say there for the futur ! For me and alot customers he is a big liar ! He does not have honor.

You can checking in the CS4 forums, how many customers have problems with his CS4. All stay he send to them the version 4.1 almost 3 months now ! He alway says he working on the version 4.36+ and the version 5 ! Why not send to Customers the version 4.1 before to work on a dream version ?

We'll never buying any tools from him now ! Some of us complainting at the game creator website and at Paypal for they get our money back.

Hi all,

I agree with Kornflex at 100% ! Josh it's a bad person ! 3 months now i staying for he told to Rich adding me and some customers on the database for have the right to DL CS4 or the next version if he exist LoL.

Please now stop with this bad story :) we wan to get our money back and peace to him :-D

I think now alot of us know he is not serious... the life continues :-D

The only reason why I've not did some little baaad things to his computer is the fact that I bought it when CS2 was actual and I bought it as a bundle with TextureMaker (ok i wanted texturemaker und buying CS was only a small extrafee)

but still i payed for ***** and I hope he will get what he deservers for it *evilgrin*

Yup the life continues...Now i'll using 3DS MAX6 + Dreamscape plug-in and DeleD for build my world. I prefer to make a donation 65$ for encouraging DeleD :) for that i wan my money back ;-D

I had a look at most of the modelers out there that support B3D.
CS I didn't like because it lacked features seemed more of a hack.

Maplet is great and decorator adds the features that are missing.

Quill3D was the best IMHO but I prefer the Maplet style of cutting your level ala Unreal style. Quill3D has a worldcraft approach which is clean in itself.

I use Quill3D now, what with the clipping to a plane tool and the caulk faces which aren't exported it's much faster to build with it.

Plus the fact that Josh said to stuff supporting Blitz3D users because they never helped him with CShop.

I did help when I could with some of his OpenGL questions.

Not that it should be up to the people that have paid for a product to be expected to help develop and beta test it because it doesn't actually work.

How you wan customers help him ? he never let us to get the beta version, and he never answering to our emails when we told to him we find some bugs.

He make CS for him only, am sorry customers are not his Bank. We pay for have a tool for working not for have problems and lost our time.

You can find alot of ppl there making a very nice tools like Tatoo, Gile[s], Magik tree Pro, ... i buying them and i not have any problem because they fix bugs very fast and i can DL them when i wan. That's not possible with CS

But it's not normal for a tool to have features and stuffs removed in the new version.

You can compare the version 3.2 vs the version 4.0 for see what i mean. The version 4.0 it's unless than the version 3.+ !

If alot of us are bored with Josh and his CS, it's only he not say the truth like "Ok thanks you for ordering my CS4, don't forget this version it's not work at 100% like the previous versions. You can alway DL the previous version 3.0, 3.2, ... when you wan !"

No he decide to ignore customers ! Inaceptable

On the CS forum, i never seen 1 good and courtesy answer from josh to any customers. It's only his beta testers answering for him ! and some of them are arrogant, they don't know what Josh sending to customers when they ordering CS4.

You think it's cool for a new customers to ask "Please how i can carving,.. in the CS4 ?" and they have this answer "Yes, you can carving in the version 3 !"

Where you wan they get the version 3 ? and some customers staying around 3 months now for be added the in database for have the right to DL new version or take support.

We wan to get our money back, because he is incompetent !

He like easy money and never working (some beta testers making for him some plug-ins for his CS !)

hmm the whole situation reminds me of something a lot of universities (at least here) have: if you break laws etc you are blocked from studying ... perhaps we should remind Josh of this little fact ... ;-)
