The Game.
7-meg

The Above file is now 7meg, it was 13 meg, I have been able to compress it down to 7 but thats about as low as its going to get.

I hope this will allow more of you to try it out.

Its some time in the future, the world has colonised all the planets in the solar system, and are about to make a voyage to new star systems.

Just before all this happens the earth is hit by a rouge asteroid, and an investigation is started to find out why it happened, during this time the earth force detects another incoming asteroid, big enough to destroy all life on the planet..

The military set about creating a space craft with enough fire power to destroy the asteroid, this is where your mission picks up the story..

Bottom line is that you have to protect your planet from the asteroids that are on a collision course. trouble is that they are not on this course by chance, and you soon find yourself knee deep in alien scum.!!!!

Enough of the short story on to the details.

This is the Alpha of the game and I still have a lot of work to be done on it. but I thought hay its Xmass and id like to know what you all think of it so far.

Game play at the moment, is just fly around shooting the roids. and alien ship and pds if you create them.

Controls.
Arrow Keys to control Ship.
For = Thrust
lef Righ = turn

Space = fire Main guns
M = fire missile.

I,O,P = The main weps i is thunder and requires you to be close to a roid.

G is main map.

D,S drops a Allied PDS and alien PDS .. planet defence systems.

err T drops an alien roid ship, you might not see this pop up on screen and its a small red Triangle on G map... it will fly at roids and shove em at your planet.

You can use the mouse to click on an object and view its stats..

Joy pad 3,4 alternates target type and locks onto it.

Err that should be enough to get you started.


Id like to know what FPS you get, and what type of system spec you have. thanks in advance, also if you want to throw in any ideas of things to add they will be welcome.

Just trying to get this some downloads.

I really need some advice one how it runs and where I should take it. so could any of you who dont mind a 13 meg download please give it a go , and post your fps.

Hey, fps ranges from 185 to 230. I think the ship turns far to quickly, probably because it's running at 185 fps ;) hard to judge. Is there a way to cap the fps?

Yeah the FPS will be capped at 60.

The above test has not fps control its really just a test to see what the average FPS is, and in general what you think of the project so far.

Also the ship turn speed is as you thought linked to the fps and when its running at 60 fps you have a lot more control over the ship.

Ross C : Could you tell me what type of system you have ? and what you think of the game as it is. ?

Not to the rest as I got a few e-mails about this. its "T" to create a alien roid ship, this wont appear in front of you but will be located some where in space. it then hunts down asteroids and chucks them at the earth.

In my sig Yavin :) As i say, it's too fst to get a free for it. Looks pretty nice graphically, but i can't comment on gameplay, as it's too fast :)

Its 2:00 AM. (uk) so Tommoz, Ill upload the zip again this time I'll include another EXE so that you can get a better feel for the game.

Hay dood, if you check the first post I have compressed the game more its now down to 7 meg. and its got both EXE's in there.

so have a go and let me know what you think. just remember to hit T to drop alien ships.

Seems cool now since the fps is locked :)I think the very small asteroids break off too fast tho. They sometimes hit you cause there too fast. It's nice tho :)
