Blitz documentation on paper ?

Hi All,

I have just obtained my Blitz3D software. Do you know if it possible to obtain (to buy) a documentation set on paper.

I know that all the instructions are documented on line, but, to be honest, some times, I need to have it on paper (easy reading in the transport, etc.).

In addition, I am looking for a good tutorial site, can you help me ?

There's a nice paper manual for B3D that comes with the boxed version. I guess you can ask for it separately, if you get the B3D download version.

At least my printed manual is SO outdated (and lost - can't find it anywhere :)) that it is basically useless.

Yes I do have downloaded the Blitz3D software, but as far as I understood, in order to have all the support (help, updates, etc.), it was the only possibility. It seems that the Boxed version is not anymore "supported" (sorry I am not sure that this is the correct word) by Blitz Research Ltd. Am I wrong ?

Must be the first B2D manual then. The B3D manual is v1.66 and although it doesn't cover the updates since, it is still a valuable resource with tutorials and explanations of the workings of a B3D programme.

When Blitz3D was first released, it came only as a download. When the decission to offer a boxed version as well was taken, the manual was made available for purchase separately.

I don't see it on idigicoms website, but why not ask them...

I'm pretty sure that Blitz Research was never printing the manuals, so I would guess it must have been Idigicon that were. I don't know what their agreement/legal situation is as regards this product, but it does occur to me that - if they're allowed - they would do well to start selling the manual alone.

I confirm that it is possible to buy the manual separately, it is what I have done, and I am *very* happy with it : many 3D basic concepts are explained, which would have taken *tons* more time for me to undrstand without this manual.

If you write them, you'll get a very fast and nice answer, as usual with idigicon.

I agree. The help files are great as a reference, but I would have found it much more difficult to learn without the manual.

Plus I do a lot of my programming when I'm not at the computer. And for that I need a manual to check the commands.

I really think that this could be a valuable option if this manual could be proposed directly by BlitzResearch. I really think that this manual could be made available "online" (under a PDF format) and that all the updates could be proposed under the same format. The users will be free to download it or not and to print themself the manual. Mark, waht do you think about this crazy idea ?

Yes it is fully possible to buy the manual at Idigicon for £ 9.99 plus £ 1.50 for packaging and postage.

I am waiting for the payment instructions in order to buy it.

In addition, I have ordered "Learn to Program 2D Games in Blitz Basic" (by Idigicon as well).

"Learn to Program 2D Games in Blitz Basic" is published by Idigicon but was written by Krylar. If you haven't already you should run over to http://www.blitzcoder.com and have a look around. There's a great forum over there with some different faces and some familiar ones, but there is also a great collection of articles written by Krylar and others which will help you get started with your new purchase.

I have the manual and i read it maybe once. the online docs are much more helpful
